This is a little romantic OneShot that I thought of while updating my other Sly story.

"Why did I fall in love with you?" Carmelita stood before Sly. Her eyes stern, but held a twist of confusion. "You're a theif and I'm a cop. It's always been this way and always will. I don't understand how you could get under my skin and make me think about you every waking moment. I don't even want to be near you."

"But, here you are, knocking on my door, asking me this." Sly replied. Bentley and Murray had ran from the safehouse when Carmelita showed up. Sly had offered to distract her, so they could get away.

She looked up at him and said, "I honestly don't know why I am here." She closed her eyes. "I know we can't be together, but I just-" She looked away from Sly, off towards the night sky.

Sly closed the door behind him, moving closer to Carmelita. She backed away hestitantly, coming out from under the overhang that covered the balcony.

"I'm suprised that you came to ask me, Carmelita. After all, you can't help who you love." Sly stated, his arms rigid on his side.

"What? No stupid remark? A come on? Not even a statement to boost your ego?" Carmelita asked furiously.

"This is a serious topic and I thought you would want a serious answer."

"You haven't answered my question at all!"

"Yes I have." Sly shook his head. Snow gently fell from the sky, mixing with the stars and clouds above the two.

"No you haven't!" Carmelita exclaimed, throwing her arms around. She walked away from him, but Sly followed. Carmelita crossed her arms and stared up at the sky.

Sly grabbed her and spun her around. He pulled her close, but her neck moved back to see his face. Snow landed on her eyelashes and hair, creating a beautiful border on her face. "You cannot help who you love. That is my answer to your broad question. But I cannot answer it in detail as to why you fell for me and not another person that works in your office. I ask myself the same question everyday, but have learned to deal with it and try to get you to see me,"

Carmelita stared at him as he smiled, "the way that I see you." He leaned forward until their faces were an inch apart. "Seems that my ego hasn't blinded you." He kissed her gently while the world continuously poured snow on them. The cold air chased away every creature walking around that night, but it made Carmelita and Sly move closer to eachother. It made their love stronger and melted their hearts to see the love they shared. They were able to give a broad statement that overrides the question always asked. But they still could not answer specifically the one question that everyone faces at least once in their life.

"Why did I fall in love with you?"

Maybe the way Sly was so carefree made Carmelita's heart sore. Or maybe how Carmelita's angry face always made Sly think she was beautiful could answer Carmelita's question.

And yet at this moment, that question is better left unanswered. The list that they could not muster up did not seem important. Only the fact that they fell in love and now know that they can openly share it with eacother was deemed important.

The End. :)

How'd you like it?
