Panda often wondered why her and Effy were friends. She was uncool, and always saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. She was useless. Effy was the exact opposite of that. She was cool, and calm, and always knew what to say. Effy was the one who could be friends with anyone she wanted, and she had chosen Pandora, something that still surprised Panda.
Not only were their personalities were complete opposite but so were their appearances. Panda was blonde and average. Effy was exotic and dark, with her bright eyes, dark hair and pale skin. Panda knew she wasn't ugly but she could never be Effy.
So when Cook, a boy who was just as dark and beautiful as Effy, wanted her. She couldn't bring herself to turn him down. He made her feel beautiful something that she had been missing since Thomas had been sent away. She had craved this, and he had given it to her. She could understand Effy's frustration, but Effy had not claimed him. Effy cared for Cook, but she loved Freddie. Panda could see this, and she didn't feel guilty. Not until she turned around to find Thomas, the first and only boy to love her, standing there. She couldn't help the tears that fell, and she was angry at herself for not being as strong as Effy.
Panda and Effy were the exact opposites. Effy was beautiful and mysterious like the night. Panda was average, over the top, and colourful like the day. They shouldn't be friends, they should hate each other, and yet they were best friends. It shouldn't work, but it did.
