Chapter 1

Hi this is songbirdheart101 this is my first posting on fanfiction and im really proud so be gentle.

Disclaimer: TMNT belongs to its creators not me

The new York city skyline was blazed with light catching from the dimming sun; beaming into the dark

room where one lone kunoichi kneeled before the statue of her mentor; her savior;her father. Looking

upon his stone likeness; eyes like daggers cutting her with their sharpness, expression cold and

disapproving. It almost cried out to her why? Why were the turtles still living? Why was she so weak

letting her enemy live? The ones who killed her father, and who robbed them of their happiness. Karai

tried to find the answers for these accusations but she could find none, truth of it all was that she was

tired. NO! Exhausted. She couldn't fight it anymore, couldn't lie to herself anymore! The shredder had

been a merciless villain. And she his loyal disciple. He saved her as a child provided her with a home a

reason to survive when her own parents had abandoned her to die of starvation. And in return she had

respected and obeyed him never questioning his plans even when they conflicted with her moral views.

Karai let her gaze drift back to the windows where the red glow of the sun had now dropped past the

Hudson bridge and into the darkness. Another day gone and she still had no idea what to do. Should the

turtles be destroyed for their deeds or should she bury the past along with her father. Could karai truly

let go of her despair and forgive them. Why? The reptiles had wronged her, murdered her father in

cold blood, true the krang had sentenced chre'll to his death but it was the turtles who had led to

his demise. But she understood why they had done it, her father had issued a declaration of war upon

their family and friends. Still she was left with nothing, just an empty building and a crumbling statue.

After her return to earth, she had evaded the authorities and returned to headquarters with a

heavy heart. The foot clan heads immediately inquired of the shredders fate, karai just dismissed their

interrogations and locked herself in her father's dojo. The place where they had spent time conversing

upon ninjutsu, contemplating future goals and, the destruction of their foes. For hours she sat weeping

at the only thing left of her father. A sculpture oroku saki commissioned to project his power and wealth

to all who entered his domain. A cold lifeless object that was not to unlike her father when he was living.

She chuckled to herself bitterly it was no news that the shredder was no loving, goofy sitcom dad, he

had been cold, never affectionate but he had cared for her, so she liked to believe. Oruku saki had not

been perfect but he was all she had ever known. And the turtles had destroyed him. Forgiving them was

out of the question ….wasn't it? Leonardo had always been kind, never tried to purposely hurt her,

even went out of his way to make sure she was safe. He was an honourable ninja..probably the only

karai had ever known. So what would her decision be destroy the mutants or forgive them. As karai

stared up at the bust of her deceased guardian she knew. She had to let it go.
