The horror had started once again. Civilians ran in fear as the gray and white spines rose from the ocean sending torrents of water over the coastline. Godzilla was back. The monster threw back its head in a thunderous roar that overpowered the screams below. The black mass stomped through Tokyo, destroying everything in its way. Its massive tail smashed through buildings and roads. The beast of the past ripped through the landscape destroying the homes and memories of hundreds.

Jets and bombers whizzed through the air hitting Godzilla with everything they could muster. Tanks and ground troops fired up at the hundred-meter monster stomping towards them. Godzilla stopped and watched the fierce projectiles wiz around him. Occasionally a missile or bullet would hit its mark, but the beast would not budge. Suddenly the monster's spines began to glow. A bright blue light rippled down Godzilla's back, blinding the bomber pilots. The monster lowered its jaw as a blue light slowly advanced up his throat. Suddenly a bright blue beam shot from the creature's maw! It soaked the tanks and soldiers in atomic fire. Next Godzilla turned his head to the skies. Jets and bombers alike were consumed by the radioactive flame.

Godzilla looked at the scarred battlefield in front of him. Melted tanks and shredded jets lay half drowned in blood. The bodies of the soldiers remained unseen in the atomic clouds of dust. Godzilla marched on, ready to murder and destroy. Suddenly a shadow flew over him. Godzilla stopped and looked up. A silver and red form streaked across the sky. It circled for a moment and landed with a tremendous 'thud'. A strong figure stood before Godzilla. Its silver body shined brightly in the sun. The uniform red stripes on its body whipped around its bright blue Color Timer.

Ultraman stood ready to fight.

The Space Man from Nebula M78 threw himself upon Godzilla. The King of the Monsters roared as he and Ultraman fell to the ground. Godzilla fired at Ultraman sending him flying. The monster rose to its feet, ready to do battle with Ultraman. The Space Man had never felt such pain before. The blast hit him square in the chest, damaging his color timer. Ultraman could no longer measure his energy, and he was running out of time.

Godzilla threw back his head and emitted a terrifying roar. Ultraman got to his feet. He couldn't let the injury distract him. He had to defeat Godzilla, no matter the cost. Ultraman put his wrists together and made an 'L' shape with his hands. He fired his Specium Ray, but Godzilla met it with his Atomic Blast. The two beams met in a fiery explosion sending both Godzilla and Ultraman flying backwards.

As the smoke cleared Ultraman forced himself into a push-up position. He looked across the radioactive crater that he and the King had blasted into the center of Tokyo. On the other side he saw Godzilla.

Standing.

The monster growled and looked down at Ultraman, as if ready to fire again. Suddenly the unexpected happened. The great King of the Monsters fell over onto the ground. Blood spurted from his mouth onto the newly formed wasteland beneath them. Ultraman stared in near disbelief.

Godzilla, King of the Monsters, was dead.

Ultraman tried to stand, but he couldn't. His damaged counter had stopped flashing. Ultraman knew what would happen next, but he was not scared. The sacrifice was necessary for Tokyo, for Japan, and for the world. The Mighty Ultraman lay motionless on the ground, never to get up again.
