The Shard: A piece of Magicite that Yuffie found in a cave near Wutai. It is called Elrias, and is a Lost Esper. He allows her to teleport from world to world, but this power is random. It allows her to use Elemental Magic(earth/fire/wind/water) as well as some Healing and Status Magic(Curaga, Reflect, Esuna).
The Cave of Wutai and the Materia Shard
Yuffie was sitting atop the pagoda, looking at the cliff face that looked over the village of Wutai. She sighs, falling backwards onto the tiles of the building, looking into the sky. "Gawd, this's so boring." she complains, folding her hands behind her head. There'd been very little for her to do in the short months after they'd defeated Sephiroth at the North Crater. Not long after closing her eyes, a couple rocks his the roof near where she was trying to nap. Rolling over, she dodges one that'd been aimed at her head. But, the person throwing them let loose several more in one throw, showering her body and the roof with the small rocks. "HEY!" Yuffie snaps up with such force that she dislodged herself from her perch and slipped towards the edge of the building. Screaming, she falls from roof to roof, finally landing in someone's arms. Or rather, ON someone. Opening her eyes, she sees a long red cape beneath her, and could hear someone grumbling. Blinking and rubbing her head in confusion, Yuffie looks down and realizes she's sitting on the person's face. "Oh, I'm sorry!" she scrambles from the person and bends close, offering them her hand. "Huh? VINCENT!" Her eyes widen, recongnizing the golden gauntlet that was in her hand.
"It's nice to see you remember me, Yuffie." the man says coldly, using her help to rise to his feet.
"Remember? How could I forget?" She smiles, jumping towards him for a hug, but he holds her at arm's length. "Aww, you're no fun!" she puffs out her lower lip and turns away. "Fine then, I won't hug you."
"That is fine by me, Yuffie. But, I can tell you're not interested in why I've come here. I see it was a foolish thing to come talk with you about a new piece of Materia." Vincent turns on his heel, but Yuffie reaches out and snags his cape.
"Hold on, New Materia? Where is it? Can I see?" Her eyes shone with excitement, wanting the new materia as hers.
"I don't have it. But, I might be able to take you to it, under a couple conditions." he says, looking over his shoulder at the young girl. His eyes faded from their red to a peaceful blue for just a moment, making Yuffie believe it'd just been a trick of her mind. "You only get some once we Master the Magic." he says, starting to walk. The young ninja was half walking, half being dragged by the former Turk.
It was a few hours later when Vincent allowed them to stop. Yuffie was out of breath because they'd been moving at a fast rate since they'd left Wutai. They were near the southern-most tip of the island, and the young ninja girl was looking around. "Well? Where is it?" She demands.
"Patience, Yuffie. It's in this cave." Vincent says, his cape flowing behind him. She made it a point to keep the man's red and black clothes within her sight as he lead her through a fairly dim cave.
"Heyyyyy! It's dark, and GAWD! What is that SMELL?" she demands, holding her nose. It was a weird, rotting smell mixed with the smell of the sea.
"Something long dead." came the man's blunt response.
"I couldn't tell." She crosses her arms and sticks her tongue at him. After several more minutes of walking, the walls began to glow a strange blueish-green light. "Lifestream?" she asks in awe.
"Apparently." Was the only word from his mouth. "There." he points with his golden gauntlet, a strange looking fist-sized piece of green materia with a red speck within it.
"HEY!" Yuffie's face was covered with a huge grin as she runs to the materia.
"Yuffie! Stop!" Vincent orders, reaching out to grab the ninja girl, but too late. She was already at the materia.
"Hey, Vincent! This thing's got some red materia in it too!" she says, grabbing the jagged Shard in her left hand. As she spun to look at the man, her eyes glazed over and what she could see was spinning around quickly.
