Chapter 1: ~Brooke Coleman~
The soft beeping of a monitor echoed through the silent room as my eyes stayed glued to the screen studying everything that had appeared on the farthest reaches. A yellow dot appeared on the screen followed by two more and it multiplied from there until thousands of dots covering the large screen that took up the whole monitor. A buzzing sound drowned out the soft hum of the computer, quickly I pushed the laptop to the stone floor and looked into the sky. The horror turned my naturally tan face a bright pale color. The first deck caught fire and I ran down from the tower watching soldiers flee the large bunkers that held one of our biggest airships. I looked into the sky and was pushed into the water by a blast that had come from a few yards away, sobbing I struggled to stay afloat in the frigid water yet no avail. I was pulled under the surface struggling to swim to the top letting out the rest of my breath I passed out the last thing I could remember hearing was the muffled shrieks from the soldiers aboard. Safe and Dry.
The bright lights on the ceiling woke me up with a start and a woman standing next to the bed was putting medicine in a vaccine with a stern face as she glanced over at her. "Senorita Marquez will be happy to know you are awake." She said shallowly. Mexico had been in a struggle ever since the war had started and well Anita had done nothing to help them. She was borrowing money she didn't have and sold goods to the Axis and Allies trying to get them to believe that she was to join the opposite side forcing them to buy something to get her favor. It was stupid and low but it seemed like her.. A tall woman walked in and took my temperature it was Anita she towered over me with the blond ends of her silk black curls tickling the tip of my nose I tried not to sneeze and moved my face to look into her bright green eyes. "Long time no see friend.." I said quietly into the eerie silence and caught her attention. It had made sense why my brother ,Alfred, wanted her on his side. She had a thick well built figure and seemed very intimidating. "We thought you had died..." My breath was caught in my throat.
'How the hell could I be dead?'
A few months later, Alfred came to pick me up he had stopped to talk with Anita asking her about joining the Allies and a puzzled expression claimed her face and she shrugged looking at her feet as they shuffled silently. She forced them out of the door and slammed it with the same stern expression. The thought bubbled up in her mind once again. 'I am going to join the axis.' The cold way she said the words would never leave her mind. She settled into the car tired from a long day of working out in the fields with Anita. "Brooklyn... I know you know why she won't join. It would help if you just told me.." He pried glaring down at me with a grimace. This wasn't normal, he was usually a perky, happy, and heroic person not this evil quiet person. "I-I don't know what you are talking about Alfred.." I said with a slight pinch in my voice something that had always given things away when I was lying. He stopped the car abruptly giving me a severe case of whiplash. "Yes you do and you know Arthur would act the same way." I had the biggest crush on Arthur for as long as I could remember I punched his shoulder roughly and sighed he knew my weak spots just like a brother should.
