Summary: These are the observations Bones makes throughout his life. First chapter is short, others will hopefully be longer, maybe not. I'm writing this as therapy. Can't afford a doctor so I'm going to force Bones to be mine. There were a few complaints and rampant hypos in the beginning, but I think he's on board with it now.

The Observations Of Bones

Now, Leonard would never claim to be an exceptionally quick thinking man, nor would he label himself as some would call 'slow'. He simply thought and thought as quickly as he could… most of the time. Sometimes, he'd admit, that when he went out drinking his cranial activities weren't at their best. This sometimes led to trouble as well, but that's beside the point. What he meant was, he was just your average Joe, neither exceptionally gifted nor exceptionally – retarded, to say it bluntly.

But when it came to James Kirk, when it came to Jim, McCoy really did start to question his mental state. Frequently. Was he stupid? Crazy? Smart? What was he, Leonard H. McCoy, to be hanging out with this – with this – with this mad man? He certainly wasn't in his comfortable little category of normal anymore that was for sure. Jim Kirk wouldn't be that gracious. No, when it came to Jim, and his quirks from hell, Leonard really couldn't wrap his mind around it. Sometimes he was ahead of Jim, ready for his next move and wise to the mad genius's act, this was when he thought himself maybe a bit smarter than usual, and then there were times where he was just left gaping at the chaos of dust and shouting as Jim sped by, laughter ringing in his ears as he went, this was when he began to wonder if maybe his mental capabilities were bellow par.

Jim Kirk, for all his genius and life filled personality, was insane, McCoy decided.

And therefore, so was he.

A/N: Second chapter is already written and will be posted the day after tomorrow. And yes, I am still working on my other stories and have not abandoned them. Please review, let me know what you think. If any of you have any suggestions for observations you would like Leonard McCoy to make during his life than please feel free to suggest till your heart's content and I will make sure to read over them. Thank you for your time!

Two-finger salute,
