Teen Titans belong to DC Comics. I'm not them.
Spring Air
by Lelila
It had been a warm day. The last remains of light were fading now, and the breeze from Jump City Bay was turning chilly.
But Starfire was reveling in it. She floated several inches off the deck of the roof of Titans Tower, enjoying the caress of the air on her skin and the feel of it in her lungs. She was actually beginning to feel a little drowsy as the wind gently began to rock her. She closed her eyes.
"Hey, Star?" a gentle voice called from nearby. Starfire smiled to herself. Robin. She knew he'd come eventually. This was their place. "It's starting to get cold. Don't you think you should come in?"
"It does not bother me, Robin," she replied, her eyes still closed. "My people can withstand even the harsh temperatures of space."
"Heh, right," Robin chuckled. "I keep forgetting that."
Her smile grew as she felt him run his fingers down her arm. He wasn't wearing his gloves. "What are you doing?" he asked softly.
"Enjoying the breeze," she answered simply. "I love this season that you call 'spring.'"
Robin interlaced his fingers through hers. "Yeah. Me too."
Starfire opened one eye and peeked at him, seeing him looking up at her. She lowered herself to stand on the roof and turned to face him. He'd taken his mask off, and she looked into his eyes. They were midnight blue in the low light, but they shown with warmth and affection, and the bit of a chill that she had been feeling was quickly reversed. "Why have you come?" she asked softly.
"Huh?" Robin's eyes focused a bit. "Oh, um...I was just checking to see if you were warm enough."
"As I explained, I will suffer no damage from the temperature."
He nodded and stepped closer, placing a hand on her hip. "It's getting dark," he noted.
"We have often sat here long after sunset," she countered, smoothing her free hand up his chest to his shoulder.
"It's usually warmer when we do that," Robin murmured, his gaze becoming both distant and more intense. Starfire absently noticed the distance between them closing.
"Would you rather we went inside?" she whispered, seeing his lids start to droop and feeling her own do the same.
"I'm fine if you are." His voice was barely audible now.
"I am always fine when I am with you," she was nearly cut off as the distance between them closed and their lips met. It was a soft, undemanding kiss, simply signifying affection and wanting nothing more.
Starfire shivered as Robin trailed his fingers up her bare back. She gripped the fabric of his cape. They rarely kissed like this anymore; they had been a couple for nearly two years now, and their kisses were either short and flirtatious or were a gateway to something more. This...this was a kiss just for its own sake.
It ended much too quickly for Starfire, and they parted just enough to look into each others' eyes. The intensity she saw in Robin's gaze had something akin to a gravitational pull and before she knew it, she was kissing him again, wrapping her arms around him, carrying him with her as she rose from the roof.
They parted as the air grew chillier and she felt Robin shiver in her embrace. They were both panting; the air burned in Starfire's lungs and she could feel Robin's breath on her cheek. "Perhaps...it would be better if we did go inside," she finally suggested.
Robin smiled.
I wrote this for a contest for the #RobStarLuvrs group at Deviantart, but I guess it's too short. I posted it anyway; I'm happy with it and I'm not going to pad it just to make it fit the rules. Oh well if I'm disqualified from the contest; I like it. I'm constantly being asked for fluff, and I like fluff too, so I thought I'd post it here as well. Enjoy!
(Yes, I'm going back to writing Curse of the Bat now.)
