Chapter 1: The Forest of Outcasts
My story is set in Sinnoh. In Eterna Forest. Yeah. I've been waiting to do this story for a while. And since that Noctowls are being regarded as only Pokemon of no remorse, I want to change that. Here, the Noctowl just went by migration, just to get away from the loud noises in Johto, since springtime would be very noisy over there, with the Scyther and Paras buzzing.
BTW, the quotation marks will be used by both people and Pokemon in dialogue. I'll indicate who's talking. Anyways, enjoy my fanfic.
The night had shown a crescent moon in the sky, with little clouds to cover it over Eterna Forest. In a small meadow, a Noctowl flies over it and lands on one of the trees in it. He perches on a branch and ruffles his feathers as he chews on his last meal.
Sitrus Berries. To him, berries tasted better than meat. It seemed unsanitary to him. Pokemon eating other Pokemon, He did not want to see that anymore, so he left Johto for Sinnoh. And was already met with unwelcoming eyes.
"Oh, a Noctowl!" He would hear people shout out in fear of him, since his kind was known to eat Pokemon. Even Pokemon lived in fear.
He spits out the stick and continues to munch on his makeshift meal. "*sigh* Almost sunrise. Time for me to sleep." Noctowl mutters to himself as he shrinks into himself on the branch to have a snuggle.
And then, he hears footsteps coming from the forest. A bloody breeder, with a rolled-up towel in hand, rushes deeper into the forest and comes to a halt between the meadow and the people chasing him and under a tree.
The Noctowl looks down at the breeder, desperately hiding from his chasers. He stays quiet and spectates the entire thing going down below him. He tries to stifles his hisses to the pain as the pursuers inch their way closer.
The trainer leans down and behind the trunk and waits for the chasers to pass by. "Where is he?!" "Search there!" "What about over there?" "Is there a part of everywhere?"
While the chasers argue with each other in finding the trainer, he thinks fast and his eyes beam to the meadow and back to his pursuers. And then he looks down to the towel, and inside were whimpers from its bad dream. The breeder looks at the pursuers again and sighs out, knowing what to do. But he'll regret it.
The Noctowl raises his eyebrow in curiosity and looks on at the trainer. And the trainer lays down the towel by the trunk and runs off into the meadow, trying to keep the blood flowing out of his arm. The chasers see him and chase after him. Lights sway around in pursuit of the trainer and they vanish into the night.
The Noctowl looks on with his night vision and sees the lights fade off, away from them and deeper into the forest. The Noctowl then hears soft whimpers below him. He tilts his head before swooping down to investigate.
He turns around and looks at it more, seeing it moving slightly. He lowers his head and bites into the towel to unravel its secret. He whips his head back from the sight. A yellow Vulpix, sleeping. Noctowl looks back at where the people went and back to the sleeping fox.
He decides to wrap it up and carries it in his beak. The Vulpix squirms in the towel, and he slowly raises his head in hopes that the Vulpix inside does not wake up. She only squirms in the towel bag, making Noctowl freeze for a moment.
'*phew* I better hurry to the tree.' He thinks to himself before flapping away up and above the forest. The wind blows against his face and his hair and strides against the wind to keep her from waking.
The biggest tree in the forest stands tall in the middle of the forest, where many Pokemon take refuge. The sleeping flocks of Starly and Murkrow sleep soundly in nesting holes in the treetrunk. The herds of Grass Pokemon in Sinnoh huddle together to keep their warmth in the cold night as they sleep.
All except a looming Lucario, keeping watch overhead. Her calm mind distracts her from her weariness. 'I should sleep in the morning.' She tutters at herself.
She slows his breathing to keep from feeling the cold night. With each exhaling breath, she makes hot smokes from her nose.
Then, she hears weak sounds. Of wings flapping in the distance. She scopes the forest afar and sees a Noctowl in the distance, flying its way to the tree. She peers at it for a moment, then concentrates to see its aura. It shone shades of navy blue in the darkness. And in its beak, a bright yellow dot.
The Lucario staggers from the sight. The revered 'Guardian of the Tree', flying his way to the Sickle Tree, holding a young Pokemon. She steps back to jump down from the branch, to fall down to the ground as fast as he can. The wind rushes to his face as he falls down to meet the guardian and he is nearing the ground fast. He whips his head and prepares to land on his hind legs.
Making no sound, she lands on the trunk's roots and uses his arms for support. He strains on the height and he inches his face up to see Noctowl getting closer with the sleeping Vulpix. He jumps down ot the ground and walks his way to Noctowl's landing spot.
Noctowl strides around the Lucario on the ground and glides to a spot in front of him. Lucario looks at him with weary eyes as he lands with ease. The Noctowl stares at her with the towel-bag in his beak. The Noctowl smirks at her, seeing how she gets little rest from the night shifts.
She gets flustered from his mockery and lets out a groaning sigh. "Just give her here, Nox. We can't all be nocturnal, y'know." She says with her hand out. The Noctowl lowers his head and Kitai the female Lucario takes it, delicately.
"Where did you… take this one?" Kitai asks, yawning in the middle of her sentence.
"From the hands of the humans. They were fighting each other, for some reason."
The Noctowl and the Lucario discuss the little details about the encounter. Kitai looks down on the bag in her hands to see it squirming. She finds the Vulpix's squirming very adorable but she slaps off her cooing and walks off to the trunk.
Noctowl walks beside her to oversee. Kitai opens up the bag to see a wrapped-up Shiny Vulpix. She stifles her cooing some more.
Nox gives her a nudge on the shoulder and brings her back. She whips her head up then at Nox, flustered. Nox chuckles from her dumb-foundedness as she slowly places the bag down on the ground and unwrapping it afterwards.
"H-How will we tell the others about this?" Kitai asks worryingly, as she looks at them asleep. Nox looks at her midnight blue eyes before answering.
"You just tell Miranda about this and it'll turn out fine." Nox advises to tell the elderly Honchkrow, their chief. Nox slightly rolls his eyes over to the left, and sees the sun's light. He figures that it was time to hit the hay.
Kitai unties the knot and carries the sleeping Vulpix in her arms. She rocks her and she lightly smiles in her little dream. Nox looks at them, thinking that she would make a good mother someday. He whips that off his mind and begins his takeoff.
Kitai turns around and up to look at him.
"Oh. Right. You take your rest now, and I'll go to my side of the tree." Kitai affirms and stops their conversing there.
Nox coolly nods at her and twirls around to rocket to the skies. Nox looks ahead and away from the sun to protect his eyes. As Kitai holds her in the Vulpix sleep, she thinks of what to do with her. Now or later, this or that, but can't have one without the other.
The Vulpix lets out a small moan in her sleep. One more time, she stifles her cooing and focuses on the young blood herself.
She places her down near the trunk of the tree and places the towel she came in on her. She wraps the Vulpix with the towel as neat as she can. She smiles on her handiwork done, Vulpix looking like a button.
She looks up to see the height she'll have to scale. Nothing she hasn't done before.
With one foot after the other, she dashes upwards to Miranda the Honchkrow and her estate in the tree. She hops up and onto the entrance of her leader.
As she stares into the hole in the tree, she starts to become nervous as she trembles. She slaps her legs to stop trembling. She lets out one last sigh before going into the leader's nest.
Morning began, and Nox can see the sun peeking out from his branch. He scurries his way into the crack in the tree and sleeps in it. 'Another day, another time.' He thinks to himself.
What a tiring night that was. He guards the tree from any human. And he had to send this Vulpix to the tree.
He sighs out before dozing off. His eyes drifted off as they begin to close. His body slowly breathing in comfort. Until he hears a loud caw coming from the distance. It gets louder and louder.
"-ox! Nox! Wake up!" A Murkrow interrupts his sleeping, which made him furious. He groans out and turn over to the side to avoid contact with the loud crow.
"Hey! I know you're awake. Get up!" The Murkrow caws once more at Nox's ear.
He sighs out exasperatingly before asking, "What do you want, Skreel?"
"Look what I found!" Skreel exclaims as he shows berries, and Nox dismisses it to go back to sleep. Then he feels pouting nudges to his back. He grumbles as he rearranges himself and blocks him out to sleep some more, but Skreel would not let him.
He groans frustratingly as he turns only his head at him with glaring eyes. "FLY AWAY!" Nox shouts as he shoots Confuse Rays from his eyes at Skreel's.
Nox's confusing rays make his eyes discombobulated and he falls off of the branch and he flies away, shaking it off. He fumes out his breath and he rolls his head to sleep. Until he sees the berries the Murkrow lowlife found.
It was Sitrus berries. His favorite. His face drools at the sight. He manages to turn around and take the berries inside his loft and take a little snack before sleeping. He munches on them and savors the flavors in his mouth.
Once he was done munching on a couple berries, he closes his eyes to sleep one more time to sleep. He sighs out of comfort but not without muttering, "I wonder how Kitai's doing…" before drifting off to the darkness in his eyes.

Helloo! Author's notes, this is just a justification for Noctowls. I don't like how some authors make them bad guys or bullies in their fanfiction. It just seems wrong to say that one is a bad person or thing just because he does not look like it. And then there is my Lucario. She may or may not get attention from me. For now, she is a single Pokemon that is a try-hard to protect.
IDK. IDK what to do with this story yet.
This is just a concept that popped out in my head. I will try to post slower. See you next time then. :P
