"Come on, Morty. We're watching The King and I." said Rick.
"Wait, didn't that movie come out in 1956?" asked Morty, "I thought we only reviewed movies from the 90s."
"We're reviewing the 1999 animated version, Morty."
Rick sat Morty down, put the DVD in the player, and turned on the tv. They started watching as the opening credits rolled.
"Wait, Richard Rich? He directed The Swan Princess, didn't he?"
"That's right, Morty." said Rick.
They continued watching the movie.
"You know, I heard that Anna Leonowens pretty much lied about her relationship with King Mungkut and that most Thai people don't like the original musical because of it. How do you think they'd react to this Disneyfied version of their history?" asked Morty.
"I don't know, but I could really go for some Pad Thai right about now." said Rick.
They continued watching.
"You know the short fat guy sure is a racist caricature. Makes Mickey Rooney from Breakfast at Tiffany's look sensitive." said Rick.
"Yeah, makes those cartoons depicting Japanese people from the 40s look progressive by comparison." said Morty.
They continued watching.
"I'm just curious how two people from countries that are predominately Buddhist are imagining a Christian wedding." said Morty.
"Well I'm just curious as to why this piece of crap even got made." said Rick.
An hour had passed and the movie was over.
"Well Morty, what did you think?" asked Rick.
"Well, it's kinda boring an pointless. I'd rather be watching the 1956 version."
"I'm just glad the Rogers and Hammerstein families agreed never to let animated versions of their musicals to be made after this." said Rick.
