Disclaimer: I do not own Avatar: The Last Air Bender but I do own this story.

Meditation seemed so difficult lately.

Thoughts of his life before seemed to be plaguing his mind every second.

This same question arose from the back of his psyche; what happened to everyone?

Each time he shut his eyes the faces of those long gone emerged.

The soft trickling of water was soothing; enabling him to drift dreamily off into his memories.

Three years before his encasement in the ice berg he was a happy nine year old. His biggest worry being picked last for air ball.

On one of the many cold days at the Southern Air Temple; Aang observed a small speck in the horizon. He watched as it neared and soon decided it was many of the flying bison but this bison carried two passengers.

He heard Monk Gyatso stroll up from behind him.

"We have guests Aang and I believe you will make quite a friend." He smiled.

Aang returned the smile and continue to watch the bison near and finally land. The two passengers hopped off the bison saddle and bowed before Monk Gyatso and Aang.

"Welcome to the Southern Air Temple, Monk Rano. This is one of our students, Aang."

"A true pleasure to be welcomed so warmly. Allow me to introduce your new student, Wen."

"Aang, help Wen unpack the bison saddle while Monk Rano and I discuss a few things."

"Yes Monk Gyatso." Aang bowed to the masters and they left.

Aang gazed at the new student, Wen. He wore the same uniform as all the air bending student. He was pale skinned and adorned soft brown eyes. His high cheek bone painted a slight red due to his shyness.

"Greetings!" Aang shouted with an outstretched hand. "I hope we can become close friends during your stay."

Wen became further flustered before hesitantly meeting Aang's hand with his own. "I also…hope we can get along…"

A/N

Yeah I know...Pretty short. I'm expecting most of the chapters to be fairly short and I'm guessing this story will max out at four chapters.

Hope you enjoy this first installment and hope to hear from you guys!
