All the muscle she'd earned from years of training with Impa were finally being put to good use. At least now she didn't have to hide them. It was great being known as Zelda again. Though being Sheik had been important, had even saved her life, she'd always felt strange living a lie. But she'd put up with it, and finally those seven years of being someone else were worth it. She had her kingdom back, with some thanks also given to Link who helped her.
But he was gone now, and things were back in the right direction.
Zelda balanced crates of milk and carried them to Malon's wagon. She would be leaving soon to sell them in Kakariko Village.
Off in the distance, Zelda could see parts of Hyrule Castle already finished. Soon it would be back, but better.
Many had suggested Zelda just stick around the castle and wait for it to be rebuilt, but she wasn't going to sit around and let others rebuild her kingdom. Whatever she could do to help Hyrule, she would do. She'd noticed that Malon, an old childhood friend of hers, was having trouble with her farm. Malon had been thrilled when Zelda offered her help, though she didn't understand why Zelda was doing it. Even to this day she seemed surprised to have Zelda around.
But Zelda stuck to her word, and until her castle was back she would work on the farm.
After Zelda had finished packing up all the crates of milk, she went over and told Malon, who was busy feeding the horses.
She beamed. There was something about that smile that Zelda loved, that seemed so different from every other smile in the world. "Well, I guess we should be going then."
"We?"
"Yes, we," Malon said. She smiled again. "I thought maybe you'd want to help me out."
Zelda turned away from her, cheeks flushed. "Yes, yes! I'd love to!"
Malon laughed. "That's great. We better get going then."
Unknown to Zelda, as much as she loved Malon's smiles, Malon loved giving those smiles to her.
It really was nice having another girl around to help out on the farm. Malon was sure she could convince her dad to hire another once he came back to the farm, though some part of her knew she wouldn't compare to Zelda.
Malon shook the thought away from her mind. That didn't matter right now.
"Hey Zelda," she said. "Would you get me a bottle of that?"
"Sure," she replied.
"And take one for yourself," Malon added. "You must be thirsty after all that hard work. I'm really grateful."
