AU NOTE: I don't know if I'll continue this to the end, I guess I just got hyped after catching up with the :Re manga. Anyways, this prologue is mostly from the TG manga, but the story will diverge heavily already from next chapter onwards. My knowledge about RWBY is a bit limited due to not being full caught up with the latest volume, so if anyone wants to help in that aspect then feel free to contact me (I don't have enough time for a full rewatch and honestly, I was never one for rewatchs so if anything I'll probably just read a shit ton of wikia pages.) So, you must be asking "Why?" Because I love the world of RWBY, that's why, it's so so interesting imo. Anyways, any aspects of TG will come from the manga, otherwise most of the crossover will involve RWBY and it's plot - mixed with the tragedy themes and characters of TG of course.

Kaneki was excited beyond belief. He had finally managed the courage to ask out the girl he met in that cafe called Anteiku.

"I'm telling you Hide, a bookstore is the perfect place for a date for avid readers like me and Rize!" Kaneki exclaimed happily while his best friend simply waved him off nonchalantly.

"You know, I still don't get the appeal of a date in a bookstore, but whatever I guess. Go and have fun!" Hide approved with a big grin and thumb.

After that exchange, the two boys bid their brief goodbyes and went on their own separate ways. Kaneki wandered the streets of Vale, eventually reaching his lonely apartment. As he entered it, he couldn't help but spring onto his bed with excitement and roll around happily. He thought endlessly about so many things, such as what he should wear, what books they should talk about, should he bring some books with him? No, the bookstore should have plenty of them if he needed to show some recommendations. Most of all, he really couldn't wait.

So… why was he in so much pain now? He could barely see anything as his vision was fading away while he rested his back on a construction wall.

"Oh my, are you already dead?" Rize said with a crazy giggle as she approached the sitting Kaneki with her kagune out and ready to pierce through him again if need be. "Hehehe, I really love humans with your body types like yours, Ka~ne~ki." Rize continued rambling, not noticing the moving steel beams above her. "They have just the right amount of fat, but not too much muscle, so they're soft and easy to eat… Of the two I've eaten this week, I wonder if you will end up tasting better… " She stopped speaking abruptly and let her voice trail off before she looked up with slightly widened eyes. "Oh." As she muttered that word, the steel beams came crashing down from above, ending in her supposed demise.

It didn't take long for people to have noticed the violent sounds and come to inspect the scene. An ambulance was eventually called after the civilians around found the unconscious Kaneki and dead Rize. Unfortunately, all Kaneki could see was black.

What…? He thought as his consciousness drifted through the endless black void. Eventually, he started hearing distressed voices. From the sounds of it, the voices belonged to doctors.

"His abdomen is lost!"

"Intestines… Shifted…. He… !"

"Transplant her organs in him… !"

Kaneki wasn't the protagonist of a novel or anything, he was just a teenager that liked to read. But, if for argument's sake, you were to write a story with him in the lead role, he was sure that it would certainly be…

A TRAGEDY
