Melody of Love

I listen to the gentle music as it drifts upon the breeze,
Hear the fiddle singing softly, speaking to the leaves,
The flute whistles the melody, sweet, low, and true,
Whilst the drum keeps time, the singer starts anew.

She sings of times long past, with warriors brave,
Of blood and battles fought, and lives that were paid,
Songs of bravery and honor, and friendships that were forged,
And encounters with strong and powerful Badger Lords.

She sings of the ancients, those that live long and wise,
The ones who have the answers, use more than just their eyes,
Speaking nothing but that, which brings to us the truth
Who live on with us as legends, in the hearts of our youth.

The music swirls amongst the trees, inciting voices to rise,
Joining that of the singer, blushing and hiding her eyes,
Drum beats slow and strong, whilst fiddle hums the tune,
And flute soars high, to touch the sky, searching for the moon.

Dibbuns settle in parents' laps, their restlessness stilled by song,
As notes of gold and honey draw several voices along,
Young and old together, join in with drum and flute,
And singer leads the group, her melody persuading pursuit.

Next is sung of the leaders, just, wise, and bold,
Those who bravely face life, whether good, bad, or old,
The decision-makers and worthy commanders, living and dead,
Who venture forth for all beasts, to keep away the dread.

The song continues to move on, and voices surge together,
Words of honesty, love, and peace, and hopes for forever,
Whilst some join in and sing along, voices high and low,
I sit alone and listen, to the drums beating oh so slow.

As the music weaves and flows, the words surround the fire,
I look to you, you look to me, and then we conspire,
You rise and hold out your paw, asking me to dance,
I can't help but blush at the beginnings of romance.

The music fades away, though we still sway in time,
You hold me in your arms, whisper that you'll always be mine,
I gently rest my head on your shoulder as you quietly hum along,
We dance alone together, floating with the song.

Then the music slows, the beat of drumming stops,
Voices quietly end, the singer's even drops,
As flute and fiddle whisper melody so sweet,
We separate and stare, our romancing complete.

And as we go our separate ways, divided by the flames,
We realize that something deep inside shall never be tamed,
The music stops and I wonder if I should be taking the chance,
I look at you and realize, it's all started with the dance.

Drowsy beasts retire, amid many weary 'Goodnight's,
Youngsters placed in tiny beds, without any fights,
And as I leave the fire, heading towards my home,
I whisper soft and low, "Love guides us, we're not alone."
