Another piece based on the Avatar episode The Beach. This one's more of a drabble than anything, I guess.
First part actually happened in the episode, second part is from my imagination and takes place at some point after the episode. We all know the first one is Mai, but you are free to speculate on the second girl. Might be her, might not be.

Avatar and all characters belong to Bryke and Nickelodeon.
And there it lay, glittering in the sun – the perfect gift. His hand outstretched as he picked the delicate shell up. Smiling, he handed it to the girl next to him with pride.
"Here, this is for you."
"Why would I want that?"
"I saw it and I thought it was pretty. Don't girls like stuff like this?"
"Maybe stupid girls."
"Forget it!"
And with that, the trinket was cast aside, as if it was nothing more than a piece of trash littering the beach. Sitting in wait to become yet another man's treasure.
The sunset on the beach made the water glitter and sparkle, it was the perfect evening and he was alone. Well, not totally alone, there was a small figure in the distance, a young lady lost in thought. Along the way, he spotted a stunning shell, perfect in its white wash. Picking it up, he held it behind his back as he approached the young maiden.
"Beautiful sunset."
"It is."
Hands outstretched, he presented the trinket to her as a token of his affections.
"This is for you."
"For me?"
"I saw it and thought it was pretty, like you."
"It's beautiful, thank you."
And she accepted the small offering of love and smiled with a warm heart. Ember Island really could be a magical place, if you let it be.
