Raven slowly opened her eyes and stared at her bedroom ceiling in confusion. She looked at her alarm clock to check the time; seeing that it was three in the morning she groaned and rolled over and shut her eyes to get sleep. Raven was slightly puzzled as to what woke her up, but was too tired to be truly bothered by it.
Just as she started drifting off to sleep she heard a scratching at her door. It was very light and timid, you could barely hear it over the sound of her fan. She slowly stood up and walked over to the door, opening it and rubbing her eyes.
She yawned, "who's there?"
A small meow sounded down by the floor. Raven looked down to see a tiny green kitten sitting there, shuffling its paws as it stared up at her.
"Another nightmare?"
It slowly nodded.
"Promise to stay in kitten form?" Another nod, she picked up Beast Boy and pet him on the top of his head, trying to calm his shaking. He snuggled into her chest and began to purr. She carried him to the bed and laid down with Beast Boy still in her arms. Raven scratched him behind his ears as he purred and slowly tried to enter his mind to see what his dream was about. Beast Boy stared at her reproachfully and stopped purring. He clamped down on his thoughts hard enough to push her out and make her gasp in slight pain. The only thing she was able to catch from his mind was, 'I grew up with a telepath, remember?'
Beast Boy stood up and walked to the far side of the bed where he curled up into a ball, his back turned to her.
"I'm sorry Beast Boy. I'm just trying to help you get over your demons!" He huffed and wrapped his tail tighter around his nose.
"I should not have tried to go into your mind, I'm sorry." She laid her hand down next to his head with her palm up. With her other hand she pet his back, eliciting a few purrs out of him.
"So am I forgiven?" He licked her hand in response and nuzzled it, somehow managing to smile even as a cat.
Raven gave a small smile and closed her eyes, "we should get to sleep. Goodnight Beast Boy." Just as she started to drift she was hit with a barrage of emotions; thankful, scared, happy, and love. She opened her eyes to be met with large green cat eyes. Beast Boy stared at her for a few seconds and then head-butted her in the forehead, still purring. She gave a full grin before closing her eyes and drifting off to sleep, clutching a small green kitten close to her.
Author's Note~ When cats hit you with the tops of their heads (Head-butting or bunting) it means that they are marking you as a member of their family and installing trust in you as a person.
