The wall of water fell back to it's home in the sea with a loud whoosh, sending the fire navy ships away, back to their home in the fire nation.
Quickly, I climbed up the staircase to the top wall, where I could just barely see Aang's figure.
I stopped at the top. the object of my attention was in the middle of the wall of ice, facing the retreating ships.
"Aang!" I yelled.
He turned to me, and his same old grin break out across his face.
"Katara" He said.
He ran over, and I could tell he was exhausted. He hugged me, and all of a sudden, I felt really safe. Something I hadn't felt in a while.
"Aang" I whispered into his shoulder.
He pulled me closer, and suddenly my face went bright red.
I could feel his hands settle on my waist, and I wrapped my arms around his neck.
He pulled back a little and studied my face.
"You have a bruise"
I blew some hair out of my face and shrugged.
He smiled, but it was a little different this time...More...Caring.
"Are you hurt?" I asked, breaking the silence.
He shook his head, not taking his eyes off of me.
"Are you sure? because I can find a heal-"
He cut me off by pressing his lips to mine.
My eyes widened, then shut.
His lips were so soft, and he tasted just like clouds.
After a few seconds, he pulled away, a tentative expression on his face.
I was speechless.
A blush slowly crept up his neck.
"I-I'm sorry Katara, I-I didn't mean to, I ju-"
I cut him off with my lips.
This time I pulled him as close as I could and kissed him fiercely.
He responded eagerly, trying to keep up with me.
I broke away, the need for air was too great.
"Wow" he said, touching his lips.
"Wow" I agreed.
We stared at each other for a few seconds, then Aang shook his head.
"We should probably get down there"
I nodded, unsure of what to say.
He took a few steps, then wobbled a little.
I took his arm and helped him down the stairs, Sokka joining us at the bottom.
We came to the bottom of the giant wall to see that a huge crowd had gathered.
I blushed. Had they seen it all?
Sokka's smile told me that they did.
The people started to kneel down, and Aang stiffened.
I came to face him.
"They want you to be their Avatar, Aang. We all do"
'So do I' I added in my head.
Aang looked like he was going to run.
Quickly, I got down on my knees and bowed down like everyone else.
'Please Aang'
Aang took a deep breath, then knelt down on one knee.
Yes.
He did it.
The crowd started to cheer.
I stood up, clapping and smiling.
Aang looked right at me and smiled that special smile.
I walked forwards, tears of happiness pricking my eyes.
He had accepted it, he had accepted being the Avatar, even if it meant throwing away his chance for a family.
I couldn't help it.
I kissed him.
He smiled into my lips, and pulled my closer.
Even if we had a long way ahead, we had this...right here and now.
Forever...
