The idea came to me whilst I was taking a shower. I thought it was cute and wrote it down. First oneshot, I hope you like it.

Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha…

"Ya know… I've always liked children."

The school girl smiled slightly.

"Something funny, wench?"

"Nope." He always surprised her, telling her things like this. Then again, the fact that Shippo was still alive was proof he didn't hate children. "Me too."

"You'd make a good mother." He was staring off in the distance, lost in thought.

"You think so?"

"Keh."

She wondered what was bringing all this talk on. He wasn't usually so open about this sort of stiff.

"You'd make a good father."And she wasn't lying.

He turned his gaze to the ground, still looking oddly pensive. They had been watching the children play in Kaede's village. Kagome guessed this place reminded him of Kikyo, for it was here that they first met. Kikyo. That must have been what brought this conversation on. He was going to live with her, have a family, and become an ordinary family- when disaster had struck in the form of Naraku. She studied his hunched over form. It must have been really hard to have your happy ending snatched right under your nose. Kagome let out a sigh, and scooted over to where he sat, a few feet in front of her. She placed her hand on the half-demon's shoulder, unsure what to say next. Usually anything referring to the dead priestess would make her mad, but now she felt downright sorry for the guy.

"Ever think about having a family?"

Well, that was a surprise. "Yeah, I guess that would be nice."

"Yeah." His voice was distant.

"You know… when this is all over…" She paused, unsure how to word what she was going to say, "Well, what I mean to say is that I'm going to miss this." She gestured to her and Inuyasha; to the monk and demon slayer, and the little fox demon wrapped up in Kirara's tail.

He raised an eyebrow. "I'll be happy when it's all over."

"No, what I mean, I'll miss being with you all, after the jewel is gone and Naraku is dead, it's all going to change, isn't it?"

He returned his gaze to the ground. "Yeah. I guess it is."

"Miroku and Sango will have gone off to get married. Shippo will probably start training… what about you, Inuyasha?"

He shrugged. "What about you?"

Kagome frowned. "I said I'd always be by your side. But I don't know, after the jewel is gone, if-" She broke off and steadied herself. "If I'll have a place here."

"What the hell do you mean by that? Of course you will!" He turned to face the girl sitting beside him, "I mean, if you wanted to stay."

She gave him a sad smile. "I thought I was the jewel detector. Without the jewel, the whole point of me being here kinda falls apart."

His gaze softened. "You aren't just a jewel detector."

Kagome smiled. "No?"

He was blushing slightly. "No."

They fell silent once more.

"You ever think-" He stopped and fell silent once again.

"Think what?"

The half-demon shook his silver mane. "Nothing."

"Inuyasha!"

He winced at the tone in her voice; surely she wouldn't go that far just to make him talk? "Fine. But you're gonna take it the wrong way."

"Will not." Defiant as always.

"You ever think about having a family here?"

She was silent for a little. He peeked at her face. She looked slightly amused.

"Miroku worn off on you, has he?"

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?"

She sighed. "I mean that sounded a lot like his 'will you bear my child' line."

"What?"

She rolled her eyes. "Don't tell me you were asking me to have Koga's kids."

"WHAT?"

"Sit, boy."

He was slammed face first into the ground.

Kagome stood up, and began to walk away, smiling to slightly to herself. "Oh, Inuyasha," She paused to say over her shoulder, still smirking, "The answer is yes."
