Leaves rustled, the wolves howled and the unmistakable sound of a hooting owl could be heard. The tree's branches creaked as they were blown by the whistling wind and the full moon illuminated the dark sky. The click of boots against cobblestone echoed throughout the silent graveyard, as a dark and mysterious figure clothed in an ebony black coat, walked up to the gate and pulled a shiny golden key out of its pocket. As the key turns in the lock a green hand slowly pushes the gate open and walks slowly in to the graveyard oblivious to the creaking of the hinges on the gate, and the rats that scampered away as she entered.
Slowly the figure removed the hood of the cloak revealing a young woman who looked to be in her mid–twenties. Long ebony black hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall, determination sparkled in her chocolate brown eyes and her lips turned to form a small frown as she gazed upon surroundings. She wore a long black dress that looked as though it had been torn many times; several different colors of fabric were used to patch it up when needed a layer of mud covered the bottom of the skirt. In one hand she held a big antique looking green book, in the other a broomstick, however those strange objects she held in her were not the most peculiar things about her, it was her emerald green skin.
Her eyes narrowed as she surveyed her surroundings a small hint of fear flashed across her chocolate brown eyes before she began to quickly walk towards a secluded corner of the graveyard, she came to a stop in front of 3 tombstones sitting side by side each with a wilted bunch of lily's sitting atop them. The green woman stood towering over the three tombstones, the wind swept her long ebony hair in her face and her cloak billowed gracefully behind her, tears threatened to fall from her eyes, but she bit down on her lip in desperate effort to hold back the tears. She stood for a few seconds holding her calm demeanor before suddenly crumpling to the ground, sobs shook her body and her vision blurred as tears ran down her cheeks. She stayed like this for a few minutes before regaining her composure, standing up she muttered a couple incoherent words as another bouquet of Lily's appeared in her hands, she bent down to replace the wilted one that already lay there,
"I'm sorry mama," she whispered. "I'm sorry I couldn't protect her. I'm sorry for flying off the handle and leaving her alone and vulnerable, I'm sorry. I should've been there for her, but I wasn't I'm sorry…" She continued to plead, her chest grew heavy as the guilt of her actions weighed heavy on her heart. Her mind reeled back to that fateful night when her reckless actions had once again resulted in the destruction of a loved one…
"Elphaba Please…don't leave me!" begged a fright sticken girl standing by a wheel chair, "Please!? Elphaba!"
"I'm sorry Nessa, but you're beyond saving now…" A young woman clothed entirely in black responded. Turning she shook her head disappointment shown clearly in her chocolate brown eyes as she turned and lay an emerald green hand on the door…
The rustle of a tree branch suddenly brought the young witch back to reality, perspiration appeared on her forehead, her eyes looked haunted as she thought of that fateful night. Shaking her head to clear those thoughts she once again replaced a boquet of lily's on the third and newest looking grave, tears streamed freely down her cheeks, the cold wind stung her wet cheeks, but so great was her state of despair and grief that she felt nothing.
