Time for change

The two of them were on top of the hill. He was lying down, she was kneeling beside him.
"Another year gone, and now we're going through another troublesome cycle of time."
"You don't like the new year?" Temari asked him.
"It's not that I don't like it," Shikamaru began, "it's just that we finally got to the end of last year, and now we have to start again."
She sighed. "You're even lazy about time, something that doesn't even require work to get it going."
He smirked. "Time brings us work, so I'll consider it as a pain in the ass."
"You're and idiot."
Shikamaru chuckled.
Temari looked out into the horizon. "Most people see the new year as a time for change. A chance to turn over a new leaf, or simply improve on what needs work."
"Those people are troublesome and too critical of themselves."
She stared at him. "I'm one of those people."
He sat up. "I still stand by my opinion."
He turned to look at her. "Though I don't know why you'd think about changing. You're fine the way you are."
She smiled. "You think so?"
"Yeah, except maybe your attitude and your mouth. If you calmed down a little, and shut that thing up, you'd be perfect."
Temari rolled her eyes, then gave a playful smile.
"If that happened, I wouldn't be able to do this."
She leaned over towards Shikamaru and kissed him.
When they released, she smiled again.
"Still think my mouth needs shutting?"
He gave a satisfied smile back. "Nah."
Temari put her head on his shoulders. "Good. You on the other hand, have plenty of things to change."
Shikamaru closed his eyes and shook his head in amusement.
"Let's start with...your breath."
