Chapter 1: Dumped

It was just another day in Smallville high. The Halls were jammed were seniors with seniorites. Everyone was just getting ready to leave school and getting ready for the prom. As I walked down the halls I looked at the pictures of the nominations for prom queen. I smiled as I saw the picture of my friend Chloe Sullivan. She just wrote an article about how the students should boycott the vote of prom queen. I decided she be the perfect queen to break the stereotype. I continued until I saw Lana Lang walking down the hall. She was just the girl I was looking for. She was the girl next door, the girl I love. But it didn't work out because of my secret. I decided today would be different thou. I figured maybe at least we can go to the prom together. Just for one night. I walked up to her very nervous. I feel like I'm a freshman again.

I said, "Hi Lana".

She looked at me and responded, "Hi Clark."

"Lana there is something I want to ask you. I know it's been difficult for us but I was wondering would you want to go to prom with me."

She just looked at me. She seemed confused and concerned she finally answered, "Clark that's sweet but I don't feel it wouldn't be right. I mean I still have Jason and it would just be too awkward. I'm sorry."

Just like that she walked off. I wanted to scream I wanted to cry. But I did what I always do and that's hide my feelings. Eventually school ended. I walked home alone and heartbroken. As I walked up to the farm I saw my dog Shelby run up to me. He jumped on me and started licking my face. Usually I liked playing with Shelby but today was different. I just gave him a quick pet and walked away. I walked inside to find the house empty. Dad was at the farmer's market, Mom was at the Talon and who knows where Lois is.

As if on que Lois walked in. Shelby followed her. She started sneezing as she always did when Shelby was with her. Lois then said, "Well I'm going to need more of the medicine." Usually I would say something to Lois and we begin our usual banter but I was just too depressed to say anything. She walked up to me and waved her hand to my face.

"Earth to Smallville? Are you okay?"

"Just leave me alone Lois."

"Great Smallville depressed. Well let me guess Lana said no."

"Yup".

"Come on Clark you can't be depressed over this. Why don't you go with Chloe?"

"I don't want Chloe to feel like a backup and besides Pete is coming back for the prom and is taking her."

"Oh. Well I'm not just going to watch you sulk around here all day. Come on you and me are going to get ice cream." It took me a few seconds to register what Lois just said.

"Lois please I don't need you're pity."

"Smallville come on it will make you feel better ok. Besides I need the walk so I'm not just doing this for you."

I rolled my eyes. I agreed and said, "Fine Lois I'll go but do I have to pay for you?"

She laughed and said, "Nope I think I'll treat you today."

"Did you get up on the wrong side of my bed this morning?"

"Ha Funny come on let's go." Lois and I walked out the door. I don't know why but I was starting to feel better already.
