"I think he likes you," Parvati said out of the blue.
"Who?" Harry asked idly, not taking his eyes off the quill he was twirling in his fingers. Binns was droning on in the background, the never changing pitch scattered with whispers of students and scratches of quills on parchment.
His desk mate rolled her eyes. It was a strange friendship, yet it worked. When Hermione and Ron had gotten together, the trio had suddenly gained a crack. Harry didn't want them to feel bad, so he had told them to go ahead to Hogsmeade without him one day and moped around school. Parvati had come across him and they had talked. Now he was barely seen without her and Lavender by his side.
"Zabini!" she whispered.
Harry dropped the quill.
"You're pulling my leg, right?" he whispered back.
"No!"
"How do you know?"
Parvati just smirked slightly and leaned back her chair, waiting patiently for Harry to stop blushing. To her surprise his face went calm and he casually glanced over at the topic of their discussion.
Blaise jumped and quickly looked down at his notes, praying Potter hadn't seen him watching. When a suitable amount of time had passed, he took a chance and looked back at Potter, only to see him still watching. Their eyes met for a moment but Blaise broke the contact, looking down at the desk and hoping Potter hadn't seen him blush.
"I think he likes you," Parvati sing-songed smugly.
For a moment there was no answer from Harry. He kept his eyes on Zabini, looking thoughtful.
"I think I like him too."
