It had always been him. Even as kids, she was his old lady. She had hung around with the biker kids as they were known as. Sons of the Sons. Opie had even put patches on his and Jax's jacket with the letters SOS on it and Tara was their girl. Jax's old lady.

No one had ever disputed that. Even David Hale who had a crush on her kept away after that first time. They had gone out on one date and he has kissed her. Tara had for a little while wanted to be her own person. No ones old lady and David had given her a chance to be just Tara. Well it hadn't ended well for him. Jax had found out and he and Opie and the rest of the SOS had beaten the crap out of David. That was the last date David had gone on for awhile.

Tara had felt bad about that. She loved Jax, she always had she just didn't like the life he was living. Kicking the crap out of David had been mean and not necessary. Tara had told him no and he had backed off. David was good guy just not her guy.

She had left town for exactly the reasons she said she did. She loved Jax; she just didn't like the life he was leaving. Tara wanted to heal people; to help them and Jax was getting more and more into the life of the Bikers. From the day he was aloud into the clubhouse he rarely left except to see her. He rarely went to school anymore. If it had been anyone else the teachers would have called a truant officer however enough of them knew about SAMCRO to know that was a mistake. Besides he showed up for tests and passed every one of them.

He even did well on his SAT; not that it mattered.

The day Jax got inniated into the Sons of Anarchy officially; was the same day Tara had decided to leave town. She had gotten accepted into a good college and if she did well she could get into a good medical school.

It was everything she ever wanted.

But to get that she had to give up the only man she had ever loved.

And she did love Jax. Years later when she returned to Charming she realized that. It had always been about him. Even when she was with another man it was him she saw. It was Jax she felt.

And seeing him again had brought it all back. It had brought everything back.

Because no matter where she was. No matter who she pretended to be; she would always be Tara Knowles Jax's old lady.

And she was finally ok with that.
