Come Back With Me

In a dark corner of a second-storey room a young girl of fifteen years stood with her dagger drawn, glinting in the full moons light as she edged along the wall, her eyes focused on the window as she drew nearer. She had woken with a start when she had heard metal scraping against glass, and was shocked to find her window thrown wide open, curtains billowing, even though it had been securely locked from the inside. So fearing the worst she had reached under her pillow and pulled out the small dagger and slid over to the wall. Now as she was only few feet from the window she listened out for any indication as to what –or who- had forced it open, but as all she could hear was the honk of distant automobiles and rustling of her curtains, she began to wonder if maybe the she had simply forgotten to lock the window this time.

Deciding to throw caution to the wind she let out a shaky breath and called out, "Show yourself Hook if you dare! I am not afraid of you, you Old Codfish!"

After finally letting out a sigh of relief when no response came, she sheathed her dagger and made to close her window when suddenly her breath hitched as out of the corner of her eye she saw a golden sparkle shoot past the window. It was gone before she realised what she had seen, but it had definitely been there. Surely she could not be imagining it after four long years? Leaning forward slightly and withdrawing her dagger again from its sheath, she made to look out of her window when a strong and heavy force crashed into her, causing her to roll backwards on the floor, finally stopping halfway across the room and finding herself looking up at the ceiling. When she bolted to her feet again, weapon at the ready, she saw a sight she thought she would never see again. A young man, clearly in his teens, was having a heated argument with a small golden sparkling fairy that was tugging his auburn hair in the direction of the window and was slowly turning the shade of a ripe tomato.

"I told you Tink, if you don't like me coming here then go away. You don't have to come with me every time you know? I can make it hear just fine on my own?" His response from the now bright red glowing fairy came out as a bunch of small tinkling bell like noises and whatever it was she said had certainly not made him any happier.

"Well if that's how you feel then I don't want to be your friend anymore. And I just might banish you if you say that about Jane again!" Suddenly, as he said her name the boy's finger (which had been pointing at the fairy 'menacingly') dropped down and he froze. Ignoring the angered tinkles from the neon fairy, he turned in the direction of the young girl on the floor, who had not moved from her position after looking upon him and was now wide eyed and seemed to be trying to say something without any luck. Gliding somewhat across the room towards her, he took her hands –ignoring the tingling sensation he felt there- and lifted her up off the floor. He unwittingly wiped her long chestnut curls out of her azure blue eyes as he gazed down at her, his right hand still holding hers now against his chest, as butterflies formed in his stomach.

She still seemed to be in shock, but that all changed after he whispered two little words. "Hello Jane."

He was suddenly enveloped in a tight hug, to which he had to bend down somewhat as he was now a good two feet taller than her. Circling his arms around her waist and resting his chin atop her head, she finally responded, "I've been waiting for you Peter Pan."
