This is one of the first fics I wrote regard LOZ, but I'm posting it anyway. It is very short
Disclaimer: I don't own LOZ, ok?
Nights in darkness
Darkness. It was all she could see. There was no moon, no wind and no one there to sit and keep her company.
The truth was: Princess Zelda was alone.
There was always something. Something inside of her that kept her going. She knew what, just knew, but whenever she ever tried to remind herself, it just flew straight out of her mind. At first she thought it was just a face, a beautiful, confused, happy face. It brought joy to her every time she thought about it; those brilliant blue eyes, that crooked smile, those full pale-pink lips. Or maybe she was wrong, maybe it wasn't the face, she could remember those arms and hands, the ones that held her when she was upset, those soft tender hands that cupped her face or fingers that would trace her quivering lips when she was scared or anxious. It was hard to tell after so long, but she could never really forget them. Him.
That one true person that she honestly loved the most.
Link.
Her knight in shining armor.
A breeze picked up and brushed strands of soft sandy-blonde hair across her pale face, but she ignored it. Her attention had been captured by the small gold ring in her hand. It caressed a dazzling jewel in the middle that seemed to sparkle in candlelight of the small lamp that sat not too far away.
Why?
Why now? Why then?
She had admitted that it was bad, the worst even. There she had found him laying with his eyes closed and such pain bearing down on his beautiful blood-painted features. She had taken one look at him; and she had known. It was over. He was gone. The life, the child, the love that they had for each other was gone, well and truly. There was no doubt in her mind that this was it the very thing that would break her… and it was. It was what tore her apart; and not even the fact that her child was to be born very soon could cheer her up.
She hated the fact that it made her miserable. What was the use of having a child when she was never ever going to shudder in anticipation every time she thought about it? But the truth was, she loved him more than anything. Zelda knew it was wrong, but she'd give her child a thousand times over just to see him again, to see how much he loved her.
But she couldn't. He was truly gone, and he was never coming back.
There was a tiny kick, a small pain in her stomach, a small pull at her heart and her eyes blurred over a little as tears started to cloud over. She clutched her swollen belly, feeling the child that he's help create kick, trying to ease her pain.
Could he feel her sorrow? She doubted it, but something inside her hoped. She knew he'd look just like his father, at least she had that to look forward to, he be just like Link.
There was another tiny kick and Zelda stood, understanding what he wanted, it was starting to get cold anyway. The Princess walked a long a small stream that seemed to caress little flowers and sparking weeds. As she walked, she skimmed her right foot along the water's surface, thinking about how worried her father and guards would be.
But before she went, Zelda placed her hand over the brook of water and let drop the only beautiful thing-besides their child-she had of him, watching the lost memories of her love and life before all of this disappeared into the pool of tranquility.
