She rides to school every day and she is never alone. People who love her — or fear her — constantly surround her. She can't really tell which is which. She wishes she could confide in at least one person, but she's not completely sure whom she can trust. She would tell parents if she thought they wouldn't have her on an express train to Crazy Town on the next departing freight. She isn't crazy; she knows she's not. She's just a little lost in the big, mad world they expect her to call home.
She walks through the fall whilst people watch her every move. They never stop to think that maybe she doesn't want their prying eyes on her at every moment, but she doesn't think they care. Why would they? She's Massie Block, and if they're not watching her, how will they know what to do?
Still, she can feel it. They're watching her. She can feel them judging her, controlling her, plotting against her. Look at Massie. Isn't her sweater so last season? How could she wear that? She is, like, so out.
She can tell Dylan how she feels, can't she? She can trust Dylan, right? Dylan has been her friend for…how long? It's good she can't remember; that they had been friends long enough for it not to matter. She convinces herself of this. Yeah, Dylan would totally help her. Except for the fact that she gets a wide-eyed and open-mouthed when a cute boy gives her food.
What about Leesh? She can definitely tell Alicia, right? Yeah, that would be so smart, telling the Gossip Queen a dark secret.
What about Kristin? Kristin wouldn't tell her secret…but did she want to tell Kristin? She already had so much over Massie's head, and Massie wasn't about to give her another thing to ruin her life with.
Claire would be a good choice, if she weren't so hung up on Cam. Cam would find out, tell Derrick, and then there would be a snowball effect.
So, no; the secret would stay with Massie forever. She would wake up, force a smile, look in the mirror, and slowly and stick her finger down her throat.
