This is my first fanfic so no flames with cussing please. I Hope you enjoy it.
Chapter 1: The Adventure Begins
Sophia Perez was just another half-blood, who hasn't been claimed. She was stuck in the Hermes cabin because her Olympian parent hasn't claimed her yet. Just a 15-year old girl with chocolate colored hair, olive skin, and spoke with a Spanish accent. She didn't have a dad and never knew her mom. Sophia has been at camp for as long as she could remember. She got along with pretty much everybody, except Percy. You see, Sophia was jealous of him because he got claimed his first year and has been on multiple quests and she hasn't been claimed or on a quest. Her two best friends were Clarisse and Tyson, whenever he's there. Tyson is a six foot Cyclops with messy brown hair. He's always nice to her, but she has a crush on him. Everyone knew it, but never said anything. Whenever he's around, she blushes and flirts a little. Clarisse is a buff 16-year old with brown hair and brown eyes. They get along because they both have a lot in common, both fight really well (Not to brag or anything) and a lot of other stuff. To Sophia, every day was a bore because she had the same schedule and was always crammed. Being in the cabin she was in it was kind of impossible not to be. Needless to say Sophia wanted an adventure.
One day when she thought no one was looking, she snuck into the Pegasus stable and um 'borrowed' Percy's horse Blackjack. It was in the dead of night, he was asleep and it's not like Blackjack will tell Percy-Hopefully. Back to the point. The only thing was, she didn't know she was being followed- By Annabeth.
When Sophia was getting an apple for Blackjack, she heard something. "Who's there?" she said putting her hand up to activate her deadly necklace aka force field. Ever since she can remember she has had this necklace around her neck. When activated it turns into an invisible force field made of celestial bronze dust so when a monster comes to have its lunch all they have to do is run towards her and POOF, instant monster dust. She also has a really pointy knife.
"Who's there?" she asked again. Nothing happened. Then she had an idea. "Annabeth is that you?" When no one answered, she jumped on Blackjack and `rode into the city of Manhattan. The first place she went was the New York Public Library.
She loved to read but just when she was about to go in, she heard someone calling her name. She turned around and saw Annabeth. "Why are you following ne Annabeth? We're not even close." "I saw you and wanted to know where you were going. I am glad I did. I love libraries." "Ok Fine. You can come." And they both went into the library.
Annabeth, being the daughter of wisdom, went to go look at the architecture books and Sophia tried to find the romance novels but could not. Then, all of a sudden, everything froze. It was quiet, too quiet. When Annabeth noticed this, she turned around and saw a really huge sphinx. She had the body of a lion and the head of a librarian but with big glowing yellow eyes. 'Sophia, run I'll hold her off." Annabeth yelled. "No, I'm not leaving you behind, we're in this together." Sophia yelled back. "I agree with the new girl, now I'm going to eat you." The sphinx roared. Sophia activated her force field and they both charged.
