Ensign Kim twirled the t'an with his fingers, tongue between his teeth. He appeared to be extremely stressed, and was beginning to sweat. "This is a difficult game, Ensign Kim. I assure you, I will not hold it against you should you choose to concede now," Tuvok said, breaking Harry's concentration yet again.
The Ensign looked up, lips pressed tightly together in frustration. "I wish you wouldn't do that. You keep distracting me. It's hard to think when you keep yammering."
Tuvok raised an eyebrow. "I am not yammering. I am merely allowing you to bow out gracefully. You have never succeeded in winning this game, and it is illogical to assume that you will do so now."
Harry pointed a finger at the Lieutenant. "You're just trying to distract me. I think you're getting nervous. I've never come this close to beating you before. I don't think you like that very much."
"As a Vulcan, I do not 'get nervous.'"
Harry harrumphed, placing the t'an in the kal-toh. "I can win this. I can beat you. I've been practicing on the holodeck," he said with complete confidence.
"You are over-confident," noted the Vulcan as he made his move.
"No, I'm not," said Harry, frustration in his voice once again. "In fact, I'm so sure I can beat you that I'm willing to raise the stakes of the game."
Tuvok watched as Ensign Kim removed a t'an from its place amidst the others. "That is illogical. You may have practiced, but you are most likely going to lose again. What stakes did you have in mind?"
"One week's worth of replicator rations." Harry seemed smug, sure of himself.
"I expected something more creative from you. Nevertheless, I will accept." Tuvok waited patiently for the human to make his move.
"Hah!" exclaimed Harry with a grin. He placed his t'an directly on top of the kal-toh. It immediately morphed into a perfect icosidodecahedron. "I win! Finally! I think I'll have steak. Oh, and maybe some Turelian fudge pudding."
Tuvok watched as Ensign Kim got up and walked away, a little spring in his step. He raised his eyebrow, turned off the game, and tucked the board under his arm. The young Ensign would not likely be so fortunate during their next match.
