Hey guys! SO like I posted on my Percy Jackson FanFic 'Someday' this is a new story about my new obsession NEWSIES! Please read and review!

Prologue

3rd Person POV

View of Taps

Taps was looking at the horizon, thinking about the events that had just happened.

She had been in love, but had her heart broken. She had been in Brooklyn her whole life, and now she was in Queens.

She had run away because she had been weak, and scared.

No, no, no. She kept on thinking. You are strong, and independent. It's his fault, that bastard.

She couldn't help but let tears trickle down her cheeks that were already red from the November chill. She had trusted him, and now she would never trust anyone again.

Because of him, she left all of her friends in Brooklyn and Manhattan. They had accepted her so quickly and with ease.

Now she was in Queens. Don't get her wrong, Queens was a great place. All the newsies were girls, but not overly girly. They could fight, and they cursed and didn't act like 'ladies'. And that was just how she liked it.

But Taps couldn't help but feel sad. She would have to stay in Queens, just to avoid them all.

She just sat there until the sky showed signs of pink, and orange from the sun rise. She sighed as she got up and climbed back down the fire escape.

It was going to be her first day as a newsie from Queens.

3rd person POV

View of Spot

He didn't know why she had left. She had just not gone home to the lodge that night.

He had looked everywhere, but couldn't find her. She could've left New York for all he knew.

They loved each other, and she left without even saying goodbye.

They had all been at a party at Medda's to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of the strike. It had also been the 1 year anniversary of them saying that they loved each other.

He sighed as he looked at the horizon. He couldn't help but worry about her. She had left Medda's before everyone else.

She had to walk all the way over the Brooklyn Bridge, and back to the lodge on her own. What if something had happened to her?

He knew she was tough, tougher than any other newsies in fact. But she didn't stand a chance if she was facing a big group of bulls, or even scabs.

Despite the possibility of that happening, he refused to give up his search for her.

He decided that he would tell the rest of the boys later in the morning. He would call a meeting at Tibby's and invite the 'Hattans too.

Everyone looked to her as a little sister, except for him of course, and they all cared for her. Could she have been jumped, or even worse?

He saw that the sun was rising, and he sighed as he stood up. He wiped away the tears that had involuntarily fallen during that night.

No matter how broken he was, he would not let his boys see him cry. Spot Conlon never cried.

Now that he thought about it, the only person that had ever seen him cry was… her.

He let out one more shaky breath, before climbing back down the fire escape.

Time to start a new day. He thought bitterly.
