A/N: sigh well, I have seen maybe 4 episodes of this season of CSI (the season premiere really made me not care any more… and then this whole thing with Warrick is a stupid plot line… and… well, I was never really a Sarah Sidle fan, so no major loss with her leaving… and I actually liked the episode with Hodges' board game D)
Disclaimer: If you read the Author's Note, you will probably deduce that, no, I don't own CSI
A Very Merry Holiday
Greg supposed that there were worse things than having the lab decorated for the holidays. True, the trees were shedding (and, on more than one occasion, he had nearly slipped on a stray pine needle), and the menorahs were only half lit (even though Hanukah had been over for a bit, now, and the menorahs should either be completely lit or taken down), and the tinsel sometimes fell (and mostly seemed to hit him in the face when they did) but, it could be worse.
Like, for instance, he could discover that his evidence had been contaminated by eggnog. Or, one of those blasted falling tinsel strands could have made him drop a beaker. Or he could have drawn Hodges' name in the Secret Santa drawing.
Greg sighed.
Apparently, the holiday gods were against him, because all of that had happened.
And now… now, he was sitting in the lab, staring glumly at his poorly wrapped Periodic Table Tie for Hodges, with a broken beaker in the sink, and an eggnog contaminated sample to his left. And there was a blasted tinsel strand hanging in the middle of the doorway, from when it had hit him and startled him into dropping the beaker.
Yes, Greg mused, there were worse things than having the lab decorated for the holidays. And every single one of them had happened to him.
"Hey, Sanders, don't look so down." Catherine said, as she came in to drop off some evidence.
Greg just sighed.
"It could be worse." Catherine stated. "You could be alone for the holidays."
Greg sighed again.
Catherine gave him a smile and a pat on the back before leaving.
"Stupid Catherine…" Greg muttered, "Making me feel less sorry for myself…"
