Dragon's love.
For it is maybe not done to write a love story about dragons.
But someone had to cross the line. Because dragons have feelings too, don't you think so?
Saphira was wondering again if she could ever find a soul-mate dragon, to love and care for. Indeed she had Eragon, but she missed the feeling and she didn't want her species to die out. She also thought about the fact that there were only two hopes for her left.
1 That the other egg would be saved and 2 that they would find other dragons across the borders of Alagaesia. And Thorn was not allowed. At least not if Galbatorix didn't die and Murtagh didn't come to the good side. But on one thing she didn't counted, was love itself. So one time when she was hunting to get a bit of exercise.
Saphira was very busy with watching a group of silly deer. Running away from her big sharp and quick teeth. Suddenly she noticed another being in her neighbourhood and when she turned around it was gone. She thought at first that she was mistaken so she watched the deer group again. But then she saw something red in the corner of her eye. Saphira thought: "No, he wouldn't dare…" She shielded her thoughts and mind, but she was aware of something that beamed a kind of curiosity and also signs of what humans called trust inside her mind. And then she heard.
"Wait, listen, I mean you no harm." Thorn said it in the old language so Saphira knew she could trust him. Saphira let her shield only a bit down so that they were able to talk. "What do you want, betrayer of our race???" She forced him to an answer. "Well, are you going to say something?" Thorn felt a bit stepped on his toe. But still he answered. "Well, to tell you the truth, I came for you." and if dragons could blush, well Thoorn would.
"What do you mean, you came for me? What a stupid explanation is that?" Saphira smirked.
"Well, I needed to make something clear between you and me. The fact that I'd never wanted this war, this fight between our races… All I want is to let you know that this is not by my will and that if I knew a way to stop this madness, I would."
Saphira grew a little milder because of this and listened to what he had to say.
"The day that I crawled out of that egg, I knew there would be another one of my race. And one that would be good." By saying this he pushed with his nose to Saphira's.
Of course she grinned. "Well, I knew you couldn't be all that bad. Does Murtagh know you're here?"
Thorn looked down. "No he doesn't, we had a fight, I blocked my mind and left."
"That's got to hurt doesn't it?" Saphira asked with lots of sympathy. "It does, but I kept thinking about you.
And this is a start of a never-ending romance.
True dragon's love.
