A Story To Tell

The fall of the village known as Tida was not a spectacular thing. They weren't overrun by monsters, destroyed by war, or even corrupted to their doom. No what destroyed this village was surprisingly pure and peaceful. It crushed them gently as they smiled and watched it come upon them, welcoming it with open arms.

Faith was their murderer, faith that there caravan would return kept them from fleeing to nearby Alfitaria and saving their lives. It kept them warm as the chilling Miasma seeped into homes and forced them to crowed around the crystal as it's power waned. Faith was the angel that brought the entire town to it's knees in prayer as they died one by one, hand in hand.

However even as the miasma slowly killed everyone around the light saw one to redeem. For better or worse, when the crystal shattered from the strain of holding it's field of protection without recharge, a young dying Clavat fell upon the centermost shard. Agony lanced throughout his young body as the miasma and the remaining power of the crystal fought for dominance over his small frame.

Hours had passed and the hard fought battle had been won by the pure power of the crystal. A small field had been created around the boy to protect him, using his own lifeforce to empower it instead of myrrh. Shortening the life of the crystal and lengthening his own.

This was where he boy remained, in stasis until the caravan from Alfitaria had come upon the destroyed village. Amazed to have found a survivor they had taken back to the city and had him looked after by the royal scientists and doctors, to find the reason he was still alive. Soon after he was healed and when he awoke none who cared were around, he was just another orphen.

The experiments began after the story of Tida died down and all rumors of survivors had been nullified. It was torture plain and simple, especially when they found he body could heal just about anything short of a fatal wound. They wanted to know so they tested, opened, poked, severed, and did whatever they could to find an answer they couldn't see. What they never noticed, luckily for the boy, was the faint glow his heart gave as he healed for the crystal had found a new home within.

Eventually he became a part of another experiment to create the perfect monster killer, his healing rate being his only qualification. The prevention of another Tida burned into his psyche, he became what they wanted and more.

The end of one village's story has become his beginning, but where will this lead him and the world.
