A tiny drabble because I felt like it, and I love Cassie. This features her in Season One, right after Sid told her that he hasn't been sending her texts.

Tiny tiny, but I hope it does justice to her. Her character deserves it.

(...because she never really felt anchored to the earth.)

She walks away, her heart beating in her throat. Head cold, body cold, breathless. Her body moves briskly, automatically, she pushes it – run, escape – trying to let her mind break free.

(the world, the people around her – the light-headedness, the precise feeling in each of her limbs.)

It rushes by. She races by and nothing stops her. Nothing holds her.

(away-away-away – it's not as if someone really cared.)

At the bottom of the stairs, she wobbles and clutches the banister, for support.

(Eat.)

Like she ever had a choice.
