His eyes seemingly so innocent, held so much depth, reflected the moonlight. We were both covered in blood, but him only on his face with a small, steady stream of blood coming from a cut on his upper cheek.
"Kill him!" A scream echoed in the long alley, "Show no mercy!" He crouched tense, almost waiting for death's arrival. I held my knife steady in front of me, waiting for the urge to kill to overwhelm me. It never came, I took one last look into his eyes and whispered,
"No," He fled, knowing I would never chase him. He stood at the end of the alley, only a shadow of a figure to me. Then he sped off into the night, leaving only a trail of blood of evidence that I let him go.
I gasped, now fully awake. My bedsheets were strewn across my floor as a result of my haunting nightmare. Panting, I stood up, slowly swaying, still half asleep. I groaned and took a big gulp of water, the ice-cold drink helped bring me back to my senses, there was a slight knock at the door. Confused, I opened the door. Standing in the hallway was a small man, he had flaming orange hair, and his long sideburns bared the same color.
"The Queen is here," he announced, before rushing to the next floor to spread the news. I quickly came to the realization of the importance of the news, the new Queen was coming. The King's late wife, Queen Anka had died because of an attack, due to the attack they replaced all of the guards and appointed new ones. That also meant the King would, receive a new wife, given by the country. They were chosen from an elite family who was in touch with the Royal family. The King currently had a son named Julius, he was a year younger then I, and I had grown up with him. We weren't close but he considered me one of his few friends in the Palace. The new Queen was Queen Pricilla, she was already one of the most well-known figures in Politics and was no surprise she was to become the Queen.
The pounding of feet brought me back to reality, I quickly closed the door and changed into the Royal uniform, black pants that had stitches on either side of the leg, a grey formal shirt, then a smooth jacket over the top that covered my shirt altogether. The jacket is able to deflect bullet, protect me from explosions, and from certain attacks from the Fortitudo elites. The Fortitudo were people with special powers, they could control the weather, or other elements. I looked at the mirror before fixing my hair, and walked out of my room. People were already crowding my hallway to get a glimpse of Queen Pricilla.
"They say she has perfect beauty! And other powers too!" An excited servant whispered behind me,
"I have no doubts the King would like a Fortitudo in his family," another answered. Their voices blurred into the background as I looked around for any sign of an opening. A servant scurried out of the room, into an opening under an archway. I immediately followed, and came out into a hallway. It seemed empty, unusually empty. I opened a door and slipped into a room, I glanced around before noticing a second door. I quickly opened that to see four people, two who looked extraordinarily like the King and his son, and another young man and and older women. I gasped as they all turned to look at me. With slow horror, I realized it was the King and his son, and the new Queen and her son.
