A/N: Seeing as I may never get finishing the sequel to my epic This is how it ends, I decided to do this short little story which would have been part of the sequel called This is how it begins.

The Choice

All over the cavern rebel and irkens forces where fighting, the humans attempting to liberate there world and the irkens trying to stop them. In the centre Taz son of king and queen ZATAR fought with the last known clone of Dib. The battle had been dragging on and both where tired. In the centre of all this stood Gaz.

How did it come to this?

Gaz thought was interrupted as the battle had reached a stalemate. Both Dib and Taz stood opposite each other each with a gun trained on the other, a single shot would end this. "Its over Taz, the countdown can't be stopped now, in 5 minutes every irken on Earth will be dead".

"I will not let you do this Dib I can still stop you" Taz said holding his heavy bleeding side. "All I have to do is kill you and push the abort button behind you".

"Good luck getting to it irken scum" As they were about to fire at each other Gaz yelled out both to stop. Her shout echoed throughout the cavern causing both irkens and humans to pause. As they look at Gaz they saw she was pointing a gun right at Taz and Dib.

"Sister this is our chance to free Earth, kill Taz and let it be done" Gaz started turning the gun.

"Is this what you truly want Gaz?' Taz said as Gaz fought back tears.

"Shut up both of you"

"Time you decided sis, either your with your race or his"

"Regrettably I agree with this clone, no more dancing around the issue, time to decided"

Gaz was torn, the easy answer would be that she sides with her brother's clone to free the planet and people but on the other side stands the Irkens she loves. She contemplated how all this happened.

Flashback

He was not that remarkable when she met him (Taz in his human disguise is talking to Gaz in the school hallway).

He was brash, stubborn, and headstrong like his father (Taz stands over the beaten body of a bully)

But as she grew to know him he has qualities he couldn't have inherited from his mother or father (Taz is sitting besides Gaz in a park making her laugh)

Eventully there friendship grew into love (Taz dances with Gaz at the prom)

My dream ended the day her stupid clone for a brother found out his true identity and unmasked him at the prom (Taz is standing out of his disguise in the middle of the hall)

Taz told me that night before the prom who he really was as he saw our relationship was more than friendship. (Taz is standing before Gaz without his hologram.

That night open rebellion broke out (Irkens and human forces are battling in capital city).

End of Flashback

She was bought back to the present as both Dib and Taz held a gun to each other and looked at her. Gaz hand was trembling almost causing the gun to drop.

"This Irkens sister, he has no real feelings for you, he used you to infiltrate the rebellion"

"You know that's a lie, I love you but the choice is yours"

"I…I…..I..I" she said as the gun drifted to Taz causing Dib to Smirk. Taz just stood there tall and defiant and locked his eyes on Gaz.

"I made my choice long ago"

'I wi…." Dib couldn't finish has he felt a burning sensation in his chest. He turned to Gaz and saw her bring down the gun. He then turned to Taz who walked over and deactivated the weapon. At the sight of this the human rebels lost all will to fight and surrendered knowing there cause was now hopeless. As Dib lay there bleeding the last thing he saw before closing his eyes was his sister with the gun to her side being approached by Taz.

A/N: There it is, Gaz has to make a choice, she choses the son of Zim and Tak ands kills the last Dib Clone (or is it?).
