A/N: Written for the Prompts in Steps Challenge on the Digimon Fanfiction Challenges Forum, step 2 (100 word drabbles), prompt #003 – crimson. Last time it was Takato and Guilmon, so this time it's Taiki and Shoutmon. :D

Overworked

Crimson is the colour of his drive, his passion. It is the red flag that says he's willing to help anyone. It's the flag he puts at the head of the Xros Wars Army: his colour, Shoutmon's colour – and even when Kiriha and Nene join and they become the Xros Wars United Army, his red is still on that flag.

But crimson is blood as well: the blood that spills from scrapes when holding kendo sticks until his hands ached or kicking balls until blisters formed – and worse blood that spilt from his mouth when he overworked himself into sickness.
