"Cast thy burden."

"Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved." Psalm 55:22

Jesus says, "Here, let me take that for you." But often we ignore the sweet kindness. Why? Perhaps we are so caught up in our worries, which are burdens. I know they are heavy, but you must come and realize something. Stop and think, consider the goodness of the Lord, how He is here to help us in our troubles. Many men are full of pride, and they think they can handle anything that comes their way in life. But sooner or later, they will find how helpless they really are apart from Christ Jesus. Our iniquities and sins become heavy, the load is too great, and as it says in the Psalms, "For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me." (Psalm 38:4)

Yes, that is so true, and how pure is the refuge of God! How great is His faithfulness and how comely is His praise! His strength is perfect when ours is over and gone, and when He brings us down, it is for our good, and He continually says, "Let me take that burden away." What will you say? He is asking you to cast your burden, and now will you hear? The Lord Jesus is a caring Shepherd, good and righteous, and we should look to Him as our help and Deliverer. God is our counselor and instructor in holiness, and by His mercy and grace, He takes away our heavy burdens. Prayer and praise releases such burdens, the blessings of God can break any and every yoke of bondage, the Blood of Jesus is most precious and no sin is too deep a stain for Him to wash away. Pour out that heavy burdened heart to Jesus, and He shall hear your voice. He moves in many and wondrous ways, and it is important to thank and praise Him even before the prayer is answered. No burden is too heavy for Jesus, no miracle is too great for God to do, and nothing is too hard for Him. Stop wandering with those burdens, and lay them down at the cross of Christ. He is faithful and true, and He will lead you on and through unto life eternal.

A devotion of burdens
