Part 1-Told By Edward

I sat in my chair, trying to fight that wonderful…that lovely…smell. I felt a quick flash of dizziness. I knew I couldn't hold out for much longer.

Bella was staring at me, looking very scared and curious, as most humans normally do when they look at us. Humans… blood. She twitched, trying to reposition herself, to get away from me, most likely. As Bella was doing so, she knocked her whole binder of papers onto the floor. She seemed much clumsier than most humans.

"Crap," she muttered. Bella stood up and reached down to pick up her papers. Finally a quick breath of fresh air. I breathed in deeply, and that's when it happened: Bella was trying to get to her feet when she tripped on the table leg and came tumbling down into my lap.

The smell hit me like a wall. A wall of heaven. She looked at me, so frightened, but it was too late. "Yes…" I hissed. My mind was clouded over. I could only see red. The blood. I looked at her arm, which was the closest thing to my mouth. I grabbed her arm and put it to my mouth, and then sunk my fangs into her soft, smooth flesh. Bella screamed loudly, but I could hardly hear her. I was too busy drinking.

Somehow, her blood tasted even better than it smelled. It was so perfect. Like a field full of flowers. Just breathing it all in. Except a billion times better. She was looking very pale now, and her eyes were closed.

After a while Bella seemed to stop, to just lay there, and I knew she was gone. Why should I care? She was wonderful! I tossed her onto the floor. But now I had another problem to worry about.

The teacher (what was his name again?) slowly came up to me. "Edward?" he squeaked. What a fool. I grabbed his leg and bit down hard. I drained him quickly, and threw him too. Then I looked around.

The rest of the class was huddled under desks and chairs. Several people were standing outside the door. Including Alice. A thunder of voices pulsed through my mind.

What's happening?

Call 911!!!

Is that Bella Swan?

Edward. Now. Let's go.

That last one was Alice. I still felt a little deranged, but not that I would kill anyone else. ELSE!!! I had killed. I looked around and, seeing the window as my only escape, ran towards it and leapt out.

Part 2-Told By Carlisle

Ring- ring-a-ling. Ring-ring-a-ling. I picked up my cell phone and glanced at the screen. Alice.

She never called me at work. There must be something wrong.

"Excuse me, guys," I said to the other doctors and nurses. "I have to take this. Carry on."

They nodded understandably. Most of them had kids too.

As I walked out of the room I flipped open my cell phone. "Alice?"

"Carlisle. It's Edward. He killed." Alice's voice was higher pitched than usual with panic. "What should we do?"

"Go home," I told her. No. Not Edward. No. "Find Rosalie, Alice, and Jasper too. I'll get Edward. Bye."

I leapt up from my desk and ran out the door. I had to get out of here. We all did.

I found Edward at home, locked in his bedroom. When I knocked, he hurriedly unlocked the door. Edward looked at me, for a fraction of a second, and then glanced at the floor. He was ashamed. I could see that.

"It's okay, Edward," I told him quietly. "We all slip once in a while. It was your turn. But right now we have to go.

"I know," he whispered. "I'm sorry, Carlisle. I tried."

"We'll have time for this later. Now, we have to leave," I repeated. We had to leave town fast. Back to Alaska would probably be the easiest.

Edward nodded, then suddenly moved his head. "Alice is here. So is everyone else."

"Okay," I said a little more loudly than usual, so everyone could hear. "Let's go.
