.Boo Boo.
Edward Elric was studying for his Alchemy exam to the fullest extent. Day in and day out he'd have his hands on a book, taking each word seriously, meditating and making sure he knew what it was explaining. Alphonse, his younger brother, was also studying, though not to the point of Ed's view, seeing as how he had no test to study for.
Ed had his entire head in the books...
Literally. Ed was worn out from an overload of preparing for his exam. Hie eyes couldn't take the pressure any longer. 'Maybe I can close my eyes one second,' he thought. 'Then I can start studying again.' Of course, his procrastination got the best of him. Snoring echoed throughout the household. Alphonse knew Ed was out of it, but he didn't bother to wake his elder sibling up. Alphonse thought he needed the rest, therefore he allowed Edward to continue snoring up a storm.
So, silence lurked through the house as the clock began ticking away...
"MISTER!" a small, tiny voice screeched out. Ed's head flew up from the literature as his golden gaze darted for the doorway. Nina Tucker stood at the entrance while holding her small hand. Tears engulfed the child's face as her wide, blue eyes stared at Edward, hoping to get his attention. Her long brown, silky braids fell to the floor just about from her little stature as she stood there.
"What's wrong, Nina?" Ed asked, still a bit brought back from the sudden reaction. "Why are you crying?" Nina walked over to the Elric brother and showed him her hand. A small cut with a few drops of blood stained the tiny finger.
"What happened?" asked Edward as he took the child's diminutive hand to visualize the small wound. "I w-w-was drawing," Nina choked up through tears. "and the p-p-paer gave m-me a boo boo!" she exclaimed going into another crying fit. Edward, being the outspoken lad he is, could have told her to 'Shut up!' Not Nina, though. She was special, like his little sister.
"Don't cry, Nina," soothed Ed. "We can take care of this, alright?" The little girl nodded. Edward scooped the child into his arms and walked into the Tucker's kitchen. He set her up on a stool, and he began rummaging through the cabinets. He pulled out a small box. Nina tilted her head with wonder.
"What's that?" she asked in a little inquisitive voice. "A band-aid!" Ed replied. "This will help your 'boo boo' to get better." Nina's mouth morphed into a little smile as Ed took her hand. He took out the little band-aid and began wrapping it around her finger. "Done!" he said, smiling.
Nina giggled, "Not yet!" It was Ed's turn to tilt his head. "Mommy always use to kiss my finger when I got a boo boo!" Nina explained. Her big eyes gave him a strong, sweet gaze. How could Ed say no? "Alright," he stated in answer. He took her hand and gave her finger a little kiss.
"How about now?" he asked, grinning. Nina laughed with a large amount of glee. "Yes, mister!" she said, hugging his neck, tightly. Edward gave her a hug in return, smiling at the precious child.
Alphonse was in the other room eavesdropping. If the armored lad could grin, he would be smiling from ear to ear...
.END.
Well, I've actually been wanting to write a story based on Nina and Ed's little bond! They always reminded me of a brother and sister! I cried my eyes out when Nina died. ...It was so sad. Why her? She was one of my favorite characters! Ahh... Well, I hope you enjoyed this little oneshot!
