"What is that?" Arthur Weasely asked pointing to the seemingly harmless rectangle piece of paper lying on the coffee table.
Harry Potter glanced over, following Arthur's finger to figure out what he was talking about.
There on the table lay a lottery ticket. It had become habit and routine to pick one up on his way home from work as he stopped at a nearby gas station for a late coffee. Since he never won anything but a few measly dollars, the money he spent was far more than he received.
However, this time he had bought two hoping to give one to Arthur who loved anything muggle.
"It's a lottery ticket," said Harry. "Muggles buy a ticket as a gamble hoping to win a very large cash prize. Though, most of the time it's only a few dollars. He handed the ticket to Arthur as the family gathered around.
"What you need to do is scratch 3 of those squares off. If they match you win the prize it displays." Harry gave Arthur a coin and set him to scratching the ticket.
Knowing that Arthur probably wouldn't win, Harry walked over.
However, Arthur called out before Harry reached him. "What did you say happens when all 3 of them match?"
Shocked and a little surprised Harry quickly walked over to Arthur wondering what lesser prize he might have won.
To his astonishment, when he took a closer look at the lottery ticket, he found something unnerving.
"I don't believe it," he whispered in shock.
"What?" asked Arthur and his family together.
"You won the grand prize of $1,000,000," Harry still whispered in shock.
"I don't get it," said Arthur. "How much is that in galleons?"
"Let's just say," said Harry, "that you are richer than the Malfoy's!"
As the Weasely family screamed and celebrated behind him, Harry could only stare at the ticket dumbfounded.
"They had just won the lottery. That never happened even to the muggles," he thought.
Harry shook his head finally snapping back to reality.
"You got love magic," he thought.
Author's Note: Believe it or not I wrote this story over 11 months ago. A lot has happened since then. It's been awhile since I wrote anything. Now that I'm no longer in school I'm trying to get back into the habit of writing. It's gonna be a process , so please stick with me. And as always, leave me a review to let me know if you've enjoyed my little one-shot here. Ciao, Whispering Thoughts!
