Based on the song The Willow Maid by Erutan

Over 100-years-ago the Great Battle was won by our heroes. Most went on with their lives, but two souls were lost to the villain. One went to hell, the other became one with the Goshinboku. There has been but one sighting of her and her beauty. Don't chase after her, don't try to take her, for she can never leave.

A young man of black hair and blue eyes walked through the forest, a stern look on his face as he focused on any movement near him. He heard a young girl singing, light and angelic. He followed the sound finding it oddly familiar. He walked for some time, almost finding it difficult to pinpoint the source of the voice. There he found maiden sitting high in the Goshinboku.

He was stunned by her. His heart couldn't stop pounding in his chest. "Kagome?" The maiden stopped singing and listened as the young man spoke to her. "Come with me, Kagome. Don't stay here with only his memory." Her gaze was soft and serene as she shook her head.

"See me now, Koga. A ray of light in the Moondance. See me now." Her hair was tangled in the branches of her tree. "I cannot leave this place. Hear me now, A strain of song in the forest. Don't ask me to follow where you lead." Her voice was softer for her earlier singing. She fades into her tree, leaving the man alone in the forest.

A young man walked through the forest with a flower in hand. His love had grown deeper as the years went by as her beauty never lessened. Forever young and serene.

He stood there under the Goshinboku offering the golden flower to her. "My heart you've captured over many years. I would be your groom if you would let me."

She said, "I'd never wed you, not near, nor far, nor soon." She shook her head once more. "See me now, Koga. A ray of light in the Moondance. See me now, I cannot leave this place. Hear me now, a strain of song in the forest. Don't ask me to follow where you lead." Again she leaves him alone in the forest.

A young man walks through the forest, a stern look on his face with a goal in mind. He found his love waiting by her tree. "Kagome, I'll set you free." She wept as he began to take down the Goshinboku. "Now your tree has fallen, you belong to me."

"Please! See me now, Koga. A ray of light in the Moondance. See me now, I cannot leave this place!" He grabbed her hand and began walking away from her fallen tree. "Hear me now! A strain of song in the forest. Don't ask me to follow where you lead."

She followed him out of the forest, his hand pulling her's along. She collapsed onto the earth only after walking a short distance. A small smiled graced her lips as she looked up at the young man. "See me now, Koga. I cannot leave this place." She faded into a flower as the young man wept. That flower would bloom for only one bright eve.

He could not take from the forest what was never meant to leave.
