Side Dish
By LTP-girl
Cutter stopped in the doorway of the squad room, and leaned against the panelling, glancing over at Lupo sitting at his desk. "Oh, and one more thing, Detective..."
Lupo glanced up at him from the personnel file he had been schiming over, his listless expression harbouring shame. Guilt. Hopelessness.
Cutter hesitated for a moment, considering the comment he was about to throw at the sullen detective. He knew that Lupo at least felt remorse for cheating on him. He knew that Lupo was feeling up with him for always being too busy to spend more time with him, and he had every right to be. But what about what he felt about the whole situation? He felt betrayed, worthless, a side dish for when his other boyfriend started to get a bit boring. No, Cutter wouldn't stand for that, he was more than a spoonful of seasoned mashed potatoes. He through caution to the wind, and said it anyway. "Be sure to throw away your law books, sweetheart. I'll be in stiches from laughter the day you pass the bar." With that, he turned on his heel and made his way out of the front entrance.
Lupo just sat there, shaken by Cutter's scolding tone. His solemn eyes followed the smartly dressed attorney as he treaded tersely out the door, an aura of spicy cologne lingering behind him. There goes my mashed potatoes, he thought to himself with a droll sigh. Lupo had always cursed Cutter for seeming like he had just stepped out of a Prada catalogue, and then reflected on the horrible mood swings the man was prone to. And my corned relish and steamed cabbage to boot.
The end.
