She isn't entirely sure how it all started; how she seemed to get away with murder when it came to him. She assumes it started when he saved her, but then remembers his family's party. The Grill. Kol. She remembers, as she walked toward the bar, he straightened up like a gentleman, he offered her a drink, he called her stunning – and he chased after her, almost colliding with a car.

She remembers her attitude toward him, his smiles, his words – soft. She remembers turning to him, playing hard to get, when all she knew to feel was the guilt to string him along for her friend's plans to get rid of him. She knew then what she knows now, she never wanted him to leave her alone.

"Oh come on, take a chance, Caroline. Talk to me. Come on, get to know me. I dare you."

She remembers that being the first time she saw the real Niklaus. He almost begged her, sitting on that bench in the cool air of Mystic Falls. He had watched her with expecting eyes, like a child, and she had smiled at him. Taking the chance he was daring her to take; and even when she sat down, he wanted to talk about her. That's all he ever wanted – her.

She knows Klaus, now. She knows that man he is behind the monster he was. She knows what he is capable of, and knows what he can truly do to destroy a person. She knows because he has destroyed her.

Caroline has never asked Klaus of anything. She has only ever played his games, and pushed him. She has yelled at him and offended him and hated him, but most of all she has loved him. In all of her anger and hatred and disgust toward him, he always let her. He has let her walk all over him, talk to him as if he were a child.

Caroline Forbes has murdered, has destroyed, has turned, and has loved and hated as anyone else in the world around her has, but in all of the years she has roamed – human or not – she has lived with a beast who has only shown remorse, dignity and humanity for her.

"Because of you, Caroline. It was all for you."

god I cannot write these two to save my little life, but I am trying immensely. I haven't watched many episodes of TVD lately, I literally just watched a clip where she walks away from him and he nearly gets hit by a car. I neeeeed to watch them more, get their characteristics spot on. They're literally very difficult to write.
