Chapter: 1
It was another gloomy day in Forks, Washington. Grey clouds hovered above, threatening to unleash a torrent of rain at any moment. Most people would frown at the aspect of having no sunshine, but for the Cullen family, no sunshine meant nobody finding out their secret.
The Cullen's weren't your average american family. Instead of pigging out on hamburgers and frenchfries, they preferrred something a little more hemoglobin-esque. Getting right to the point, they were vampires. Everyday was a challange to keep their secret protected. However, Carlisle, the head of the family, still wanted his children, Rosalie , Edward, Alice, Jasper, and Emmett, to live as normal a life as possible. This meant allowing his kids to go to school.
It was September third and the first day of school was set to begin at Fork's high. Edward let out a sigh. It was the same thing every year, while his peers graduated and moved on with their lives, he remained seventeen. You would think immortality would be the bees knees, but it got boring after awhile. Edward wanted to settle down, raise a family, get a steady job, have grandchildren, retire, then die... the way life's supposed to work. But alas, he was fated to roam the earth for an eternity.
'If there is a hell, I think i'm living it,' Edward thought as he opened to door to his drab, grey locker.
While thinking of how this scene would repeat itself until June when school finally let out, a girl with brown hair past her shoulders and solomn look on her face walked by. She immediatly caught Edward's attention as she gave off a sweet scent, much like that of a rose. His throat ached for a taste of her blood. Hearing the thump of her heart almost sent him on a bloodthirsty frenzy. Having never experienced anything like this before, Edward ran out the front entrance of the school, trying to calm himself.
'Who was that girl?,' was all he could think about, as the first bell sounded off signaling first period was beginning...
