Henry crawls through the hole, ever downwardever darker, and emerges into a world of shifting, shapeless grey. Snow falls gently from a pure white sky and a shadow moves through the fog, noiselessly beckoning him forward and desperately shouting out for a name Henry can't decipher.
Footsteps on pavement and now they're acquaintances, he's agreed to help the search and so follows down the windchilled streets, running and running and never going anywhere, looking and looking but only finding themselves.
Soft words and harsh breathing break the tick-tock of the antique shop, and every lift of a fingertip and every sweep of a hand curls them higher and hotter into opalescent hue--
-- now it's a bit too quiet and a bit too dim and a bit too anxious and Henry's watching again, claws through jacket and vest and undershirt and skin, and oh god there's so much blood not again not again not again
But this time there are no numbers.
