The wind was calm in the Midgar skies. It seemed that every day the air above the metropolis became thicker and more heavier polluted. Two figures could be seen from afar, standing on a balcony perched on the side of the ShinRa Tower, seemingly engaged in an argument. The skinny, pale man paced around a woman, who seemed very upset at the moment.
"And what do you call this, Lucrecia?" The man grabbed at Lucrecia's wrist, exposing a rather horrid, self-inflicted gash. She seemed like she was going to break into tears just then, at a loss for explanation.
"I...."
"Well?"
"I... I was... I was lonely..." Hojo released his grasp on the woman's wrist, turning to face the balcony's railing.
"So that would explain your questionable behavior." Lucrecia rubbed her wrist gently, glancing off to the side shyly. Hojo simply continued to stare off into what seemed to be nothing off in the distance. "I don't know what I'm going to do with you." Lucrecia placed her arms around his body, leaning her head against his shoulder. "Yes?" Without another word, she gave him a kiss. Hojo returned that kiss, only to back away slightly, staring curiously at the railing of that balcony. "I think I'll test you."
"Wh-what?" Carefully, he climbed up onto the railing, wavering back and forth to keep perfect balance. It was a horrible distance to the ground, at least a 60 story drop. "Hojo! get down from there!" Hojo slowly walked upon the railing, step after step.
"Oh? Why, how could you possibly miss me more? You're already lonely." He leaned back slightly, as if threatening his own life with a 60 story drop to the concrete below.
"Stop it! Please come down from there!" Lucrecia stood about a foot away from him, on the safety of the balcony. Hojo kneeled, his feet still balancing upon the railing. He held out a frail-looking hand to her, smiling softly.
"You know, death does not come to us easily." One could observe tears building up in Lucrecia's eye. Hojo kissed the back of her palm, then let her hand go, standing up on the railing. "Meet you at the bottom." A small smile formed upon his lips as he leaned back, losing his balance and quickly fell toward the ground below, laughing like an idiot enjoying a good time. Yet, the laughing ceased when he tumbled against the side of the building, only to abruptly hit the concrete below, harshly.
Back upon the balcony, Lucrecia was shocked in horror at what just happened. She wanted to scream out or cry, but she seemed in too much trauma to even move her mouth. Turning around, she ran off the balcony, into the building and toward an elevator.
Hojo's body indeed did not look as if it was empty of life. A few twitches of shock and the rising and falling of his chest in labored breath could be observed. Fresh blood trickled upon the surrounding and now cracked concrete, decorating it in a shade of red. Lucrecia had rushed out of the front doors of the building, then slowly walked to his side, kneeling next to him. She'd expected to find nothing but a dead body lying there.
"Hojo...?" A groan of pain was heard from him as he opened his eyes, looking toward her.
"Lucrecia.... how do you feel?"
"Horrible!" She sharply yelled, poorly attempting to hold back tears.
"Do you understand, now?" Her sobbing ceased for a moment, as she struggled to think clearly for a moment.
"Understand... what?" A disappointed look crossed Hojo's face, as he let out a sigh and leaned his head back.
"I'll explain later." Just after that, he passed out. However, life still struggled to thrive within him.
"You're a madman, an absolute madman. I don't know why I love you." She cradled Hojo's body within her arms, leaning her head against his. "Perhaps you do love me..."
I may consider re-writing this.
