Under the Mistletoe

This is the first official Yasuaki/Eisen fanfiction I had ever written, I first wrote it last year about Christmas Eve.

Disclaimer: I do NOT own Harukanaru Toki no Naka de or its characters. They are property of Tooko Mizuno and Koei. If they were mine, I'd have Yasuaki and Eisen fall in love with each other.

Yasuaki and Eisen both looked up at the plant above them. For once in his life, Yasuaki did not hear it say anything to him to explain what was going on. "What is this?" he asked his partner.

Eisen smiled slightly and sighed. "I am afraid we have been caught in a trap."

"A trap?" Yasuaki reached into his jacket to bring out an ofuda he'd always kept for emergencies. In this new world you could never be too cautious.

"No, it's not that sort of trap."

"It isn't a dangerous trap?"

"No. It is a fun trap."

"How can a trap be fun?"

Eisen replied by leaning up and kissing his partner on the lips. It was only meant to be a chaste kiss, but when he felt it being returned, it lasted a lot longer than originally thought. The kiss soon ended when they

needed to part for air. "That's how."

Yasuaki put his fingers to his lips. He'd always wanted to receive a kiss from Eisen, but he wasn't sure the younger male felt the same way. "So, what exactly was this trap about?"

"Miko told me that's called a mistletoe. It is usually strung up for Christmas, the holiday we never celebrated in our world."

"Why is it strung up?"

"Because when two people are under it, they have to kiss. It is a tradition according to what Miko had told me."

"And why did you say it was a trap?"

"Because you never quite know where the mistletoe is until you're under it yourself."

The onmyouji nodded. He took Eisen's hands in his own. "Are you also to make a confession under the mistletoe?"

"A confession? Miko did not mention anything about it."

"Then if we are to kiss under the mistletoe, it should be enough of a confession." He leaned down and kissed his partner, feeling it being returned.

Once again, the kiss had to end so they could breathe, but this time they reluctantly pulled back. "Ya-Yasuaki-dono?"

Yasuaki pulled Eisen into his arms and held him close. "I believe that should be enough to explain how much you mean to me."

Eisen snuggled against his partner. "It does. Thank you."

Tenma turned to his girlfriend and his younger sister when he heard them giggling about something. "What's up?"

Akane continued giggling as she pointed towards where she had hung up the mistletoe earlier. "Look. Yasuaki-san and Eisen-san finally know how they feel for each other."

"That's good. I was wondering when they'd actually admit it. But, did you have to give them that push?"

"Of course. They would never have said it if they weren't pushed into that situation."

Ran's giggles suddenly became full-out laughter when she saw another couple in the doorway. "Oh my gosh! Look at Tomomasa-san and Takamichi-san!"

Akane and Tenma averted their gaze from the loving Hachiyo no Genbu to the Hachiyo no Byakko and burst into laughter. For what they saw was Tomomasa in a Santa costume and Takamichi dressed as an elf,

complete with pointy ears and bells on the shoes and hat. (I could NOT resist!)

The two Hachiyo no Genbu pulled back enough to look into each others' eyes, everything else forgotten. They knew they'd never forget this Christmas party. "Merry Christmas, Eisen."

"Merry Christmas, Yasuaki-dono. I love you."

"I love you as well."

Eisen was wondering what Akane had planned for the two Hachiyo no Genbu to do for Valentine's Day, but decided that only time would tell. For now, all he wanted to think about was holding his partner close.
