Rubbing Off
Charlie put down his laptop carefully. He was getting a headache from the loud, echoing gunshots that rang out. The youngest Eppes had been in the middle of a very important equation, damnit! He hated to be interrupted, and his hand began to twitch slightly in a way that signaled to him his physical need to write and complete. He felt like a computer program that hadn't finished its troubleshooting. God! It had been at least a minute and a half and the FBI agents had yet to take this man out! That's it, Charlie thought. Time to whip out some 'mad math skillz'. Charlie hand flew out and grasped blindly across the table, never taking his eyes of the man. Finally, it clutched the white, heavy coffee mug with FBI written in bold navy letters across it. There was a little French vanilla coffee left, which he downed. Then he stood.
"Hey! Gun wielding maniac!" Charlie shouted hazardously. The man turned and fired a shot at him instinctually, which went wayward and missed. It hissed as it passed threw his white eraser board. Charlie took aim, mentally pausing everything. He imagined a white dotted line tracing the trajectory from his hand and mug to the mans forehead. He hurled it with all its might and it smashed the man in the head with a beautiful 'clank.' The gunmen tumbled to the floor. The hostage he had taken scrambled to his feet and aimed his gun steadily at the man. Agents swooped past the hostage and handcuffed the gunmen. Suddenly, Charlie's moment of triumphant was ruined, as Don appeared in his face. Worry and anger was etched in his older brothers face.
"What the hell were you thinking?" Don demanded, scanning his brother for injury.
Charlie just gave a light shrug and turned back to the board. He erased a mark on the board, and replaced it with another, a light smile gracing his features as the rest of the agents realized what had just happened, and all hell broke loose behind him.
