A story never told
Chapter 1 - Draco's detour
Draco woke
with a start. Sweat was pouring from his forehead. In the first
few
seconds, he couldn't remember a thing. Until it slowly came back to
him,
image by image. Ruffled black hair. The greenest eyes
he's ever seen.
Suddenly recognizing the emerald eyes looking
demanding at him from a mental
image, he exclaimed surprised
"Potter!". He realized too late that he still
didn't have
his own private dorm, even though his father asked for it over
and
over again. But Dumbledore, the old fool, wouldn't let him have
one.
Probably scared of the things the Slytherin Prince would do
to live up to
his reputation. Well, not having his own room
certainly didn't stop him from
doing just those things now, did
it? Draco smirked thinking about what he
did all those years all
over Hogwarts… Suddenly realization hit him again. A
moment ago,
he exclaimed "Saint Potter"'s name. While wakening up from
a
dream. In fact, he even dreamt of him… Draco, paranoia
overcoming him,
looked around in his dorm. But except a few snores
and a mumbled "Yes, I do
love Ice Cream" he heard no sound.
Thank God, he thought. If anyone would
have heard him, the great
icy Draco, exclaim freaky Potter's name, in his
dream! His
reputation, for which he worked endlessly, would have been
ruined.
Not to mention what would his father think, if he would hear of
his
dream… But what did he dream anyways? Draco concentrated
really hard to
remember all of his dream.
He was on a lush
meadow surrounded by hundreds of violet pansies. Scared by
that
view he tried to run away, but the only thing that changed was
the
color of the pansies. Suddenly they were emerald green. As he
surprised
stopped and intently looked at a particular green one,
it started to
transform into a guy who looked strangely familiar.
As Draco drew closer, he
realized that he stared right into
Potter's endless eyes… The last thing he
remembered before
waking up was that Harry… uhm… Potter gave him a malfoyish
–
yet breathtaking – smirk. Surprised, he woke up.
What was the
meaning of that dream? Why did it have to bugger him now, a
month
before his engagement to Pansy? And why in the world did he have
to
get engaged to her anyways? He still was only 17 and thought he
still had
his whole life before him. Not anymore, like it seemed.
And of all the girls
in the world, why did it have to be Pansy?
Troubled, he looked on his alarm
clock. It was only 3.06am. What a
waste of precious sleep! He decided to
stop thinking about that
ridiculous dream and just go to sleep again. He
didn't expect
his sleep would be disturbed again by a dream. A far more
troubling
dream, as he had to confess to himself, before taking a long,
very
cold shower.
It was still before the crack of dawn and
none of his dormmates was yet
awake. But Draco didn't dare to go
to sleep again. Far too disturbing was
this last dream about him
and a certain green-eyed guy… He blushed by even
thinking about
the dream. What was happening to him? He never before had
dreams
like this. What was wrong with him? Frustrated, he decided to take
a
walk outside. It was early January and snow covered the school
grounds. It
looked beautiful. If Draco would have cared for this
kind of beauty. Which
he certainly did not. He went to the
ice covered lake but did not stop
there. He walked slowly around
until he found a convenient tree on which he
slid down and sat in
his silky pajamas on the frozen ground.
When it dawned, it dawned
also on Draco, that it actually was his birthday
today.
