Chapter One:

Oh God, it's already three in the morning?! I can't believe how long I've been crying. As I get up to go blow my nose I can't help but glance at my reflection in the mirror. I can already see the rashes beginning to form around my nose and under my eyes.

I silently curse my sensitive skin and its annoying need to rash out when it gets too dry, when I notice a lily sitting on my bathroom counter. I reach for the little wonder, and as my hand reaches the stem my head starts to spin. A little dizzy, I kneel down, waiting for the head rush to subside. After a few moments, the discomfort in my head increases, and my eyes start to water.

"What is going on?" I mutter to myself. As the minutes drag on, my eyelids grow heavy. The words carbon monoxide poisoning and valium overdose clouded my thoughts as my head fell against the bathroom floor. I'm not sure how long I was asleep, but the noises that awoke were not the familiar ones of my apartment.
